Has a massive amount of ease built in

I've tried three times to make this pattern, and I end up with ugly pants/shorts every time. I finally figured out that this pattern has a massive 5 inches of ease built in, so no wonder they make me look like I'm wearing grandpa's pants. If I were going to waste my time making another pair, I'd use the garment measurements and add two inches of ease for a tighter fit. Also note that they are assuming a 10 inch difference in waist/hip ratio, so adjust the pattern accordingly. Simplicity 8056 is a much better pants pattern to follow and has better fitting instructions.

Great Pattern for Simple Comfortable Pants

Fit was pretty good, very easy to follow pattern instructions. I used a stretch denim but you could use a lot of different weights of fabric with this pattern. Only a couple of alterations for me personally, good fit. Very happy with the pattern.

Use this pattern over and again

Shorts and pants are both easier to make than it may appear. The blue reversible shorts use this pattern...twice. :)

Does the job

Gets the job done for a relatively simple shorts pattern. I’m a beginner and was able to follow the pattern for ‘E’ like 90% correctly so I’d def recommend this one to my fellow sewing newbies.
