It's a good charger, but not enough user features for the money

This charger is obviously a high quality unit, and I expect it to last many years. However, it is expensive and therefore I expected a better "user experience". There are a lot of programs to charge various types of batteries, and recover sulfated batteries, which is fantastic. Accessing all these programs is not intuitive. There is a little "help diagram" on the front panel, but it's also not exactly intuitive to use. The unit really needs a small LCD display to tell you what it's doing, and also to tell you the battery voltage. The fact that a $600 charger doesn't have this is disappointing. When I first turned the charger on to charge my first battery, I was surprised to find out that after 24 hours, it was still charging and hadn't completed the charge. Concerned, I contact tech support, and they said that it is "probably" performing a recovery of a sulfated battery. Eventually after about 4 days, the charge finished. I guess it thought that it should perform a 4-day recovery process. But it doesn't tell you this-- basically this device is just a black box that does whatever it wants without informing the user of much of anything. So you're left guessing at what it's doing. For $600, I expect better. In short, the device obviously has a sophisticated internal program that gives you a lot of functionality. But with no user feedback, you just have to trust that it's doing the right thing, and you have no idea when it might finish whatever it's doing.

Great product. It’s expensive but we’ll worth it. I charge 2 big batteries that run a 85’ Skyhook Crane. I will buy more of their products in the future.

overpriced and not good for agm

1. i tried to charge an agm battery and the battery got so hot i couldn't touch it. the charger also used lots of power and was very hot for days. after 5 days the battery went from 900 cca to 200. the battery is now ruined because i tried repairing the battery w/ this device and that was also unsucccessful. 2. power cord does not plug in securely and unit keeps shutting off 3. poor instructions do not even say how to repair agm vs regular batteries 4. lack of features. unit does not show how many amps are going into battery and unit charges slow for a 50amp charger. 5. not heavy duty but plastic construction w/ plastic touch buttons.

As like most NOCO products I cannot fault how it works and it’s features BUT unlike other NOCO products I’ve bought the price tag of this charger and how much it costs over the model it superseded is shocking and really cannot find any way of saying it’s value for money

Smart & Fast But Not Weatherproof

This is the fastest most competent smart charger I’ve ever used. At 50-Amp it will completely charge a depleted 100 amp-hour battery in less than 2 hours. In most instances, it’ll likely top up any 6v, 12v, or 24v battery you have in less than an hour. Full featured, with additional modes like desulfination and force charging, this charger does it all and quickly. All around impressive, including the packaging, case and heavy duty nylon braided silicone cables and clamps. However, it’s not sealed or weatherproof. There are vents inside the side handles, and quiet cooling fan(s) can be heard running when it’s in use so I would be cautious using it outside or in incremental weather. For a ‘relatively’ compact 50Amp smart charger, I’m not surprised that it uses active cooling. The fact that it’s not sealed or weatherproof is a little disappointing, and I would have preferred a hard blow molded case over the included EVA case. Overall, I’m very impressed with this Narco charger, and they have been my go to for years because of their features, reliability and compact size. I own several, and this is now my new main garage bench charger. You can find faster cheaper 100 - 150 amp chargers, but they’re not multistage, multicemistry compatible, “smart” or as feature rich. Well worth the features and time savings, but individual needs will dictate whether it's worth the price of admission. As for features, it is capable of charging 6v, 12v, and 24v, including different multicemistry batteries including Lithium. It also has temperature compensation, reverse polarity protection, power supply mode, repair/desulfator high voltage pulse mode, trickle/maintenance, force manual mode and 10 amp charging mode for smaller batteries. The force charge mode overcomes one of the limitations of many smart chargers, which won’t actually start charging unless they’re detecting sufficient voltage, which sometimes isn’t present on badly neglected batteries. The desulfator/repair mode also helps recondition batteries that wont accept or hold a charge, and does make a difference. It will not restore batteries to 100% but it can restore them enough for them to accept a charge, so you can get some more life out of them. It also has automatic temperature compensation charging, which allows the charger to automatically adjust the charge voltage for optimum charge efficiency depending on the ambient temperature. This is an often overlooked ‘smart’ feature but critical for optimal battery charging. It allows it to maintain a more accurate end voltage threshold balance between a full charge vs over-saturation. It does this by automatically lowering the voltage threshold when charging in warmer temperatures, and increasing it slightly in cooler temperatures. This minimizes sulfation on the negative plates, and grid corrosion on the positive plates which can damage the battery over time and lead to off gassing and water-loss. Despite its extensive features, it’s easy to operate. One button is used to cycle through the modes/battery types. Hold for 3 seconds for repair mode. Hold for 7 seconds to force charging - once all the modes start flashing, use the mode button to cycle to the correct battery type and it’ll start force charging. The display provides clear information regarding the charge status and is easy to understand and intuitive. Final thought: Yes, you can find a faster charger, but you’d be hard pressed to find a better more competent fast smart charger. However, it’s not weather sealed so outdoor use/installation may be limited.

High Quality, Versatile & Very Easy To Use! Perfect For A Garage Or Shop

This GENIUSPRO50 NOCO Charger is well made, feels extremely durable and because it can do so many different things, it is a great charger for any garage or shop. We have had a few different NOCO Chargers and I have been extremely impressed with all of them. I also have the GENPRO10X4 which I prefer slightly only because it is fully waterproof. This one is lighter and smaller (and also comes with a carrying case) so it is much more portable and is easier to move around our garage. My husband uses it in his shop as his main charger for our vehicles, lawn equipment (mower, trimmer, etc.) and other items that have various battery types and power requirements. It is a multi-voltage charger so it can be used with either 6V (50 amps) 12V (50 amps) or 24V (25 amps) batteries with any lead acid or lithium iron phosphate chemistry. For 6V and 12V, it can handle up to a 2000aH battery and for 24V, it can handle up to a 1000aH battery. It also has many useful charging modes: Lead-Acid, AGM, Lithium, Force, Supply, Repair and 10A Charge which is ideal for smaller batteries. The desulfator/repair mode is extremely useful because it allows you to get more life out of your batteries which helps to save money. While it doesn’t restore them to 100%, it reconditions batteries that wont accept or hold a charge so you can get more use out of them. It charges dead batteries (as low as 1 volt) but you can also use “force mode” to manually charge batteries that are completely dead (0 volts). It can even be used as a DC power supply and will output 50 amps when used as a 6V or 12V and 25 amps when used as a 24V. Another great feature is the built-in integrated thermal sensor which detects the ambient temperature and alters the charge. It prevents under-charging in cold climates and over-charging in hot to protect the battery maximize the battery life. I love the simple, user friendly controls which make it extremely easy to use. It doesn’t have any fancy displays or controls and features a single button operation that cycles through the different modes. Simply hold the button for 3 seconds to access “Repair Mode” and 7 seconds to “ Force Charging”. It comes with a a 5 ft 5AWG sleeved charging cable, a 10 ft. 5AWG sleeved extension cable and 4 different input cables for different regions (NA/EU/AU/UK). They have sturdy connectors and are very thick, flexible and high quality cables that are insulated in silicone so they can also be used in colder weather. This charger even includes a carrying case which helps to protect it and keeps the cables nice and organized. Overall, I am thrilled with this charger and think that it has has many great features that set it apart from other charges. The wide variety of settings and the ability to charge different types of batteries makes it a must have for anyone with multiple vehicles or battery operated lawn or shop equipment. It has well exceeded my expectations - HIGHLY recommend!
