It's Catproof, HOWEVER.....
I bought two units for my 2 cats, so I could feed in separate areas and one cat is a piggie if food is left out or other cat leaves food! PROS: * Sturdy unit well packaged. Came with USB type C cord for power- D batteries (not included) also give needed weight to unit. * Cats cannot get any more food out with paw up the hole and the top is latched with two small latches. * Food compartment is sealed for freshness with nice design. Easy to clean-I live in a dry region, so I just used a damp sponge to wipe out after a week. * I like how the stainless-steel bowl fits into plastic unit that is slightly angled, so the food doesn't pile up under the unit's food opening. To determine portions for your cat- push out one 'manual' portion. For me it seemed '4 portions' equaled 1/4 cup of kibble. Setting portions and times were straightforward- first figure your needs and write it down (easier to do that than trying to figure WHILE pushing buttons). A tad tricky to get two units timed exactly, but not a big deal as I wanted one cat to get to hers before the other anyways. CONS: * When you take the rotor off to clean, remember how it came off, the opening of rotor part is facing the opposite side of the units food opening. I spent way too much time trying to determine this as it does NOT explain that in the manual! * The bowl unit should be attached more firmly with a 'twist latch' to unit not just the unit simply coming down over edge of the bowl unit. WARNING TO OWNERS: I had tested these units for about 4 days before I left on a short trip...everything was perfect- never had a problem! However, the day I left on my trip, one cat knocked it off the table! THANK GOODNESS my friend checked-in! This unit fell from my dining table to pergo flooring-it did not hurt the unit but, the red light came on 'low food' because unit was on its side! Then, the next day my friend found the loosely latched bowl away from unit. Also, the 'push to open' plastic cover over buttons was open. So, I guess my cat figured THAT out, too. By third day, everything was fine. In the future I will put electrical tape over latches, buttons lid, and double-sided tape under unit and bowl. Obviously my one cat had too much time on her paws!

I really like this feeder
I love the design of this feeder. I love the functionality of it even more. Our elderly cat was getting greedy for food, eating so and much so fast that she would just have diarrhea because her gut couldn't process the food fast enough. Her stomach problems settled down when we split her daily meal into 4 equal parts throughout the day. Her stomach has calmed down, even though she still comes around begging for food about an hour before it's time, it's annoying in the morning, but maybe she'll get accustomed to it sooner or later. In the meantime, when she begs, we just tell her to 'talk to the robot'. It's been spot on reliable for 2 weeks now, the red light 'low food' indicator is great. The sealed food compartment is wonderful. The portion control and timer is easy to set up. I had thought at one point that the bowl was giving her 'whisker fatigue' and was easily able to remove the bowl and holder and just put a small, flat plate under the food chute. It's been a great tool in our busy lives to feel confident she's being fed on a regular basis even if we're not able to be around at exactly meal time.

Good for snacks!
I appreciated the price point a good deal. It does a sound job of delivering food and the potion sizes are pretty small. Which is what I needed it for. I use this feeder for snacks overnight. I give 1 portion, 3 times nightly to equal 1/4 a cup in total. Just to give the reader an idea. I have 2 other feeders (one other petlibro different model, and a completely different brand) my cats dont seem to favor any of them over the other which is good, this is the smallest one I have. My only critique is the low bowls. Fur babies have to bend down. But that's to be expected at the price point i suppose. And obviously this issue isnt specific to this feeder. A more elevated bowl would have been nice. I also love the stainless steel bowl and thank petlibro for giving us that option as the standard and not charging extra separately for this model. Easy to remove and clean. Great for when I want to throw it in with the rest of my cats meal supplies for a wash w/o removing the whole bowl attachment/holder. (but if you wanted to wash the steel bowl and plastic holder separately you can) Overall great. It was also pretty easy to set up. Also enjoy the "kitty proofing" of the kibble storage. The push button works good. As for syncing up with my other feeders I've concluded that's impossible, but they all go off within 15 seconds of eachother. The food comes out of this one - its usually either 1st or 2nd to go off. I am unsure how effective it is for going away, as I am usually home. However, I can say I hear my feeder going off at night when im up (and my cats leaving my room running to go eat) so I'm sure its reliable.

So far so good
Purchased this to dispense small portions of food for my cat overnight. So far the feeder hasn't missed any meals, and the portion sizes are calibrated well. The latched door that covers the controls is also secure, and my cat hasn't shown any interest in opening it. I was a bit nervous about the button-release mechanism on top and whether my cat would be able to get into it. However, you still need to grab and twist the top to open it, so I think it's pretty secure. My cat was very skeptical about the steel bowl that came with the unit. He seems to prefer eating straight out of the plastic receptacle that sits underneath the steel bowl. The unit was fairly easy to program. One thing I struggled to understand was how not to set all 6 feedings if you didn't need them. Without a cancel button it was a bit of a mystery. But turns out if you set the portion size of a particular feeding to zero and confirm it, that counts as canceling the feeding. Other than that, great value for money so far.

Brilliant cat feeder, well made, using it full time.
We initially purchased this to replace some ageing "cat mate" feeders which the cat could easily break into & eat all the food in one go not to mention bat them so much the batteries could fall out. Enter the Petlibro. Initially I set it up to test it, ready for when we were next away, but found it so good we've taken to using it permanently. It comes with a USB-C plug-in mains adaptor & takes 3x D-size batteries as a backup. it is well made and I honestly think the cat would have a hard time breaking into it. The lid turns and locks into place tightly, the tank clips into the base tightly with large tabs. Make sure you push down enough to ensure both the tabs have clicked. The base is solid and weighty, helped even more once the batteries are fitted. I think it would be difficult for a cat to knock over. I set up her normal feeding times and to be honest I wish we'd purchased this much sooner - it now just sits there and does the job, no more measuring her food each day. I recommend filling the tank with your cat's kibbles then pressing the feed-now button & weighing what's dished out, from there you can make a decision of how much (how many portions) to feed each time. I repeated this several times and found it to be consistent. The trick is to test. A portion = the physical amount the very bottom well takes which equates to aprox 2.5 teaspoons or 20ml. In our case this equated to 8-9 grams per portion which is perfect. Set up is relatively simple, a mode button scrolls through setting the time and then each feeding time, number of portions, and whether to use the (gimmicky) voice recording feature. To be honest the whirr of the motor followed by the food arriving in the bowl launches our cat from zero to full speed in less than 2 seconds. She's usually at the bowl before the feeder has finished playing my voice. Note that, oddly, it doesn't feature the 24 hour clock or the ability to switch to it. It strictly uses the 12 hour clock format with AM/PM so pay attention when setting the clock and setting up the feeding times. 18:00 hours needs to be set up as "6:00 PM", for example. Despite not being internet connected (or to my knowledge receiving the MSF radio clock signal) there seems to be no clock drift so far, but it's only been running for a few weeks. All in all I'm very impressed so far, it's been running for a few weeks without any issues. The real test will be how well it's running in 6 months or a year's time, but for now I would definitely recommend not just for when you're away but as a regular automated cat feeder.

Good when you work out the portions
I use this for my dog when I’m at work so she has her lunch and I put all her kibble inside. This is a really good product but could do with some improvements. The rotation inside is quite slow so your dog/cat might be sitting there a while for there lunch to fully come out. The recording is ok…but it collects a lot of background noise so I’m not sure how effective this would be to your pet. The programming is quite niggly. It takes a bit of getting used to and if like my dog you have a certain amount of portion size you give them a day you have to work that out via the portions on the device. So my dog has 2 small scoops for lunch so I worked out as 6 portions on the device to be the correct amount. You have to keep playing about with it. Once you have solved that though it’s a breeze. I suggest playing around with the machine quite a bit before you leave it for your pet so you know it’s working correctly. Other then that it does exactly what it’s supposed to do and saves me getting someone to come in on lunch to do it for me.

Annoying ill thought out features and programming
It has a rechargeable battery for greater flexibility that is solely to retain settings but the feeder normally plugs into the mains. However the low battery light flashes all the time, whether on mains or on battery! To change settings one is pretty much obliged to reset every single feature, time, time of feeding, portion size, number of feeds, recorded message for each and every 6 times it can operate. This is not user friendly and feels laborious and tedious. Portions sizes are potentially ridiculously large: more than a bowlful for no good reason. Why does it need to display the time, all the time? Further Info. my review above is accurate, however the sellers have indicated the electronics must have benn faulty on my model as the low bettery light should not flash. It appears to be a frequent issue. They accepted the software could also be improved and offered a full refund in recompense, which I gratefully accepted. Very very good of them. However they then sent me this request, a clear reflection of how Amazon reviews are unreliable. How many previous purchasers have retrospectively altered reviews to be more favourable or have been deleted in the light of other refunds? I have altered from 2 stars to 3! so it works! "Hi Peter, Thank you so much for your update. We try to avoid asking anything from our customers, but I am afraid here I have to humbly ask a huge favor from you: if you are satisfied with my service, could you please reconsider your comment about this feeder, or delete it if you feel reluctant to rewrite your experience?" The sweet initial response of "Joyce" on behalf of the seller now leaves a slightly sour note. Would it not be more appropriate to prioritize improving the software. I personally prefer honest accurate reviews....with no glossing over of faults...

Has worked well, but don't forget to clean...
I've had this running constantly since April 2022 (it's now December 2022). It's been fine. Would certainly recommend if you intend go away for a couple of days, or just want to portion control your cat. I run it from the usb power cable and don't use batteries. Even when you unplug it, the settings are saved which is handy. Put batteries in if you intend to leave for a while, you never know if the power might go down. Main issue is there are no instructions on how to clean it well. Thankfully it's not that hard, look at the photos. Take off the lid and the main cyclinder. Then unscrew that tiny screw in the middle. Remove that little arm thingy. The bottom of the food section should just rotate out, don't try and just lift it out, you'll damage it. Then the rotating bar will just lift out. You can now clean. Just be aware of trapped water. Might be advisable to dab the screws with a little bit of food grade silicone lube to prevent rust?

This has given us out weekends back!
Our cat likes to wake us up from 4am onwards. We've had days sometimes where we just can't sleep at all because he's constantly begging for food (he is overweight from previous owners and we're trying to bring him back to normal). At night he'll scratch things near our head, walk all over us (and his little paws concentrate a lot of weight..), yowl at us etc until we wake up and when we do he'll scurry away from us straight to his food bowl. It was driving us insane.. a friend then recommended an auto feeder and we haven't looked back. This is the first weekend in.. probably years, we've been able to sleep through the nights and not been woken up in the morning. Our cat is also secretly eating less, and he doesn't realise it.. but he is, thanks to the portion control on the feeder. The voice recording is a bit meh but that's not what it's about really, we don't use it. This gadget has changed our home and made us kitty parents so much happier. He's pretty much stopped scratching the walls for our attention too, and has gotten used to it quickly and he likes it a lot too. It's very worth the money!
