Exactly what we needed!
WE had just moved into a house this past winter (from apartment living) and there was no step out the sliding glass door to the back yard. My dog is 11 years old, retired service dog, who has arthritis in both back legs and one front leg. So I needed to get something that would work with the threshold (width/depth). I racked my brain and researched so many things, including new stairs that would cost a few hundred dollars. Eventually we will replace the pavers with decking that extends much further out and have proper steps put in, but for now I needed something to work for him but if I needed to put my weight on it on the top (to get out the door) it would hold up. I had it narrowed down to this and one other brand. I bought this first because it had free returns and felt good knowing I wouldn't be stuck with something I couldn't use if it didn't work out for him. WELL it worked out GREAT! It did take him a few tries, with me directing him how to use it, before he got comfortable with it but I would expect that. Now he uses it like he's always had it. The complaints about it being "too rough on pads", first you need something for them to grip or they will fall backwards off it. Second, if you have smaller dogs (say under 35lbs) and/or a dog who is moving slowly across it then yes it will cause some scuffing on their pads. That is why you must teach/train them to move quickly in and out, as it is not made for standing on (which smaller dogs seem to do from the comments I read). I have a medium sized dog (65lbs), 11yoa, but he will still moves quickly in and out the door. His pads are fine, and it even helps to keep his nails down a bit. Highly recommend if you need a short ramp for outdoor use. My rise is 12 inches and it's in front of a standard sliding glass door.

If you need lightweight and small, pick this
It was too lightweight and small for me. Kept slipping off of things. I liked the non-skid surface on the top (like sand paper) but you had to prop it up with something. It’s plastic and the design made it difficult to grab on to anything (floor, couch, etc)” you get what you pay for. At least it wasn’t expensive.

Right length for minivan side door and wide enough for large dog
I have a geriatric dog and a minivan. The side door is lower than the back hatch so I wanted one that can use the side door without being so long that if someone parks next to you, it is too long to fit. This ramp fits that bill. My dog is a German shepherd and frightened of being picked up and I have a bad back. Ramp was better option, though she was still reluctant. I had surgery scheduled to remove a tumor so got this just in time, without time to get her use to it. Helping her, I got her up better than the struggle to lift her and have her fight me and then roll over. So, I'm glad I got it. Light weight yet sturdy, easy to just throw up in car next to kennel. Only draw back is that her fear made her claw her way and she slid some. She was not willing to go up without my help, so I don't know if she was willing, if she would have slid trying to do it herself. But, with not much assistance she made it.

for small dogs only!
I bought this ramp for outside of my work where we have a large drop to the backyard. I have a 16 year old rat terrier who is mostly blind and very weak and was almost always mis calculating the jump outside. This ramp took him a little figuring out but it works for all intents and purposes but is MUCH smaller then I anticipated. It says 17 inches wide but it has about 1 1/2 inch round ends that make the actual walkable ramp about 14 inches wide. And if you measure it, it already falls short of 17 inches wide. So "extra wide" is a joke. This rap works for us as my dog is about 15 pounds but if you have a golden retriever, it would be like walking on a tight rope. Especially with four legs! So small dog, perfect, any bigger then say 30 pounds and I don't see it working.

Not heavy, easy to move around
I bought this to help my dog get on the bed, and he uses it every night. Each morning I lean it up against the wall and go to work, so he doesnt get on the bed while I'm not home. He can jump off the bed just fine. Now I control when he can get on things and when he cannot. It is scratchy on the surface, like sandpaper, but he could care less. He hardly waits for me to get it in place at night, so he can walk up it to get on the bed!!! It is very light, and I can move it easily from one place to the other. It also looks nice so I dont have to hide it in a closet so people wont see it. Worth the money.

Almost perfect...
I recently found out, my darling terrier, Olivia, has arthritis. She can no longer jump up into the car, or our bed. I bought two ramps, one to keep in the car, and the other for the bedroom. She weighs 30 pounds, and it's difficult for me to lift her, so this product is invaluable for both of us. It was so easy for her to figure it out. I praise her each time she uses it, and she seems to enjoy her new adventure. The only recommendation I have is it would be helpful to have a handle to grab on to, when attaching it to the edge of the car. With the leash in hand, one has to manipulate the ramp with only the other, which is awkward.

Works good with modifications
Works for our use. It was too slick for old dog to get up at first. We removed the grit paper that was on it and then contact cemented an old piece of carpet to it and it works fine now.

... a van style of vehicle you will probably be fine. I drive a Cadillac SRX and the ramp ...
If you own a van style of vehicle you will probably be fine. I drive a Cadillac SRX and the ramp will not fit in to the door opening and remain flat against the door jam. I was really looking forward to using it for my huge Rottie. She has a knee that gives her trouble so she has trouble loading up in the car. The product itself is of good materials and would hold her weight without any problem. Just be aware that it is not made for a normal door opening but the one pictured would work fine.

Very Steep
This Ramp is short, and that makes it very steep. My Little Guy will not use this. Yes I tired using it in the car, way to short . Tried using for the couch, to steep, Tried using it for the camper, again to steep. so now it sits in the garage.

It's okay anyway
The surface of the board is so rough that you dog is afraid to walk on it.

Really nice sturdy ramp.
This ramp is great but it does not fit at the back door to our Jeep Liberty. It fits at the front door, but we don't put our dog in the front seat. Woulds work if we put her in the back though.
