Not A Good Choice For Silicone Caulk

I bought this because it was cheap, had good reviews, and I was still learning how to caulk. Now that I know a lot more about caulking and guns, I wish I had bought a better gun to begin with. Importantly, I used the gun for silicone caulk which is thick and did not realize that the 8:1 thrust ratio on this gun was too low for silicone caulk. Thrust ratio means that for every 1 lb of force a user generates on the trigger, 8 times that force is pushing the material. Silicone caulk requires at least a 10:1 thrust ratio for proper application, but a higher ratio is even better. Otherwise your hand gets tired quickly and will hurt just trying to squeeze the caulk out. When that happens, it is hard to get the caulk dispensed in a straight line. Otherwise the gun is o.k. although there are no instructions and the metal rod that holds the caulk canister in the tray is confusing as to how it works and I sometimes had trouble extracting the canister when done. Otherwise, there are no drips to worry about. But I will not be using this caulking gun again for silicone caulk. I will be buying an automatic gun that is battery powered to minimize uneven lines and mess. And to save my hand from blisters!

Kind of disappointed

Good looking Caulk gun, just wasn't impressed. The tube fits loosely, multiple squeezes to extract from the tube.

Good Value

Needed a caulking gun for use in mortar repair on a concrete bird bath pedestal. This item did the job & was inexpensive. Might not be great for continual use, but for the occasional caulking job, it works great.
