Would be 5 stars except for loose bearings cover

As others have mentioned, there is a too common problem with the cover becoming loose. In my case, completely loose and requires snap ring pliers to tighten and if it occurs again then I will try blue lock tight product. It has good quality and angle and seems to work well so far. I wonder if it made as it is so that you could fit other “noses” on the shaft and tighten it on?

Great Value, But Bearing Cover Tends to Loosen.

This live center is a good value. It works very well and runs smoothly. The only problem so far is that the threaded collet/cover that encloses the bearings tends to come loose when working, requiring me to stop and fix it. This could allow dust in and reduce the life of the bearings. I see others have mentioned this issue in their reviews, and as some suggested I will just put some Locktite on it. For under $20, I'm totally fine with it.

Great upgrade for stock live center

This WEN live center is a great upgrade for my Harbor Freight benchtop lathe, which features an abysmally cheap live center in the box that has difficulty staying in the work piece. So far, the bearings are still performing smoothly even after shaving a handful of bowl blanks, spindles and pen bodies. It's sharper than it looks, too, which makes it easy to center your project on the tailstock. I'm going to upgrade my lathe soon, but I'll probably carry this over to the next one.

Use it everyday

Has worked great for the past 100 hours or more. Really handy to have for turning pens.

Good quality overall except ring

Works fine but the threaded ring that screws into the base keeps unwinding after an hour or so of use. Once I found the correct tool (snap ring pliers) i tightened it properly and seems okay so far. If it continues, Locktite is next

Threaded end-cap loose, risk of dust in bearing

The threaded end-cap on back of live center won't tighten up. It comes loose and dust could get in shortening the life of the bearing. I would have sent back but missed the cut-off to return...

Very well made

This live centre meets all expectations. The ball bearing head rotates absolutely smoothly. I am very happy with this product.
