My wrists are about 7.25" around, so I'm not even at the stated max size range for this product. And even without cinching the velcro straps, it's uncomfortably tight. The problem for me is specifically in the thumb area; it creates a weird and slightly painful pressure on the palm side of the base of the thumb. This is for both wrists and with the splint removed. So I think this product should come in two different sizes. Other info: I sprained both my wrists when I slipped on some ice and fell forward, so I got two of these, one for each wrist. I'm past the worst of it, but just wanted to have them on hand, and also on the day I ordered them, I wasn't sure how fast I'd heal. I seem to be healing relatively quickly, but I work on computers, so I thought they might be helpful to wear at work for a stretch to help me protect my wrists while healing and be mindful of how I'm using them. I spent some time looking at different options on Amazon, and decided that Ace knows bandages, so I'd be in good hands, so to speak. I got the kind with the removable splint, since on the day I injured my wrists and ordered these, it seemed like a good idea to avoid bending my wrists. Pros: 1. Nifty design that fits either hand. The core black sleeve is basically symmetric. The stretchy gray half oversleeve wraps in one direction, so on your left hand, it starts at the bottom and wraps around to the top, and on the right hand, it starts at the top and wraps around to the bottom. The gray partial sleeve has velcro that attaches well to the black to tighten things up. Also, the inner black sleeve is about 3/4ths the thick velcro-receiving stuff and 1/4 a thin stretchy (probably poly-lycra) material that is where the main adjustable fit kicks in. 2. The design of the splint is pretty good, too: There's a channel on either side of the thumb, so that you can put the metal split in to be on the palm side for either hand. The metal is very firm, but can be shaped just a bit (with effort!) to allow customization. 3. Very affordable. 4. Relatively lightweight. Cons: 1. As stated above, I think this should come in two sizes. I think it probably won't work well for people with very small hands, since there's a core unstretched size... although with the gray wrap, maybe it works out fine. And for people with large hands, I can't be alone in the thumb hole being too tight to be comfortable, actually causing me pain. 2. Mine came with some loose threads, sort of a run in the gray area of one of them. Not really a big deal, but it just points out that these will have a limited lifespan. Which is totally to be expected for anything with elastic in it anyway. Observation: 1. The area around the thumbhole (what I've been calling the velcro-receiving stuff) does not have a sewn or bound edge. It's clear that I have an option to trim the hole to be a larger size... although there's not much distance from the thumbhole to the split casing, so I can't trim much sideways, but maybe I don't have to trim much, and I can trim down, for sure. (Looking at this more, it might be in part the extra bulk of the splint casing that leads to the pain, as it creates a minor bump that pushes in towards my hand.) I will ponder returning these vs. trying to make the thumbhole larger. If I trim them, I'll post an update about how well that worked (or didn't).
