Showerhead split open, manufactured by ALFI

I bought this shower head for a complete bathroom remodel. After the remodel was complete the shower head was used about 25% of the time while showering over the next 16 months (we had a total of 3 options of shower devices to choose from) then one day I heard water splashing coming from the bathroom. I investigated and found the shower head tilted and water draining from one edge of the showerhead. The edge of the showerhead had split and the SS plates had separated. This is a $200 showerhead and I'm a loyal Amazon customer, I beleive in giving manufacturers, distributor and sellers of products an opportunity to hear my concern and respond to and offer a solution to my concern. I contacted ALFI and told them how pleased I had been with their product, explained that the edge of the showerhead had opened up and wasn't usable in that condition. I also explained that the issue was well documented here at Amazon in other reviews of the product, its obvious there is an issue with the manufacturing of the showerhead and I was requesting a solution to the issue. ALFI didn't respond to the very respectful email that I sent them, so I am now writing this review in hope that ALFI or Amazon will reach out to me with a solution. I am rating the showerhead a 3 because it is really an awesome looking and performing showerhead that has a manufacturing defect if corrected would be a 5 star product, in all fairness to ALFI the defect may have already been corrected since I purchased my showerhead but since they haven't responded to my inquiry I have no way of knowing for sure. I will update this review and inform you of the response I receive from either ALFI or Amazon, this review is being posted 10-14-2017, photos attached.

Rainfall showerheads are wonderful but you'd have to contort yourself somewhat awkwardly if ...

I bought one each for two bathrooms for a new home. They are installed as a separately controlled second option with standard showerheads on the walls. The main reason for two options was to allow showering without wetting hair, if desired. Rainfall showerheads are wonderful but you'd have to contort yourself somewhat awkwardly if you want to keep your head out of the rain. For these rainfall showerheads, the water flow is great and the shower experience couldn't be better. One quirk, and maybe this is typical of all rainfall showerheads... The large square pan fills with water for a few seconds, then the blissful rain begins. When the water is shut off the pan remains full of water. The weight of the remaining water creates a vacuum, keeping the water in the pan. Tilting the showerhead allows air to enter the pan, letting the water escape. If you don't drain it, no biggie. Eventually - sometimes hours later air will leak in and the pan will start to drain itself. It's just a bit startling to hear the sound of the shower running if you think you're the only person in the house!

large and wonderful

I've been using this rain shower head for a year now and love it. I travel a lot and can't wait to get home just to get back into my shower. I will say, it is a rain shower head and is large. You need room for it. I would think it would only work well with a ceiling mount. But if you have the room it's an awesome shower head and will fit two people if you want! It's not high pressure but a very comfortable heavy "rain." I went into a Kholer store shopping looking for a faucet control. She asked me what shower head I had. I told her and she said, "you'll be back to replace it." She was wrong. LOL

It's raining in my shower!

This is a very large shower head. If you stand under it with good water flow you'll feel like you're in a monsoon .... which is exactly what we wanted. We use this on a Grohe shower mixer, with one side used for a hand-held shower head, and this beauty connected to the bathtub side of the mixer (which yields a higher flow rate to the head than a normal shower). The nozzles distribute the water in an even sheet of rain. We have no issues of water going anywhere but down as some seem to have. That being said, there are plenty of 12" models that offer similar looking heads for a fraction of the price. I doubt I'd pay $186 for another one of these without first reviewing the cheaper options. But we have no complaints with our so far.

Great size and shape, works well, good purchase.

Great size. Sometime the little nozzles will shoot water slightly to the side. Usually we angle the head to the side when we are done so all the water will drain out before the next shower, but that is just personal preference. Water pressure is very light (as intended with most rain heads.) But definitely worth it. Price was good, and size and shape were great. Overall, very happy with the purchase. (And contractors who installed it as part of an addition were in love with it - one of the best they had seen.)

Looks awesome but doesn't have nearly enough pressure!!!!

Looks great but doesn't have enough water flow/pressure to remove all the conditioner from your hair. I know rain shower heads don't have the same pressure as smaller massager heads but, i was replacing a 12" in diameter rain shower head that has 3-4x the water pressure. As you can see in the photo the existing head has surface damage from years of hard water. After 2 days of using the alfi 16" x16" head my decided she was no longer bothered by the appearance of the old shower head and swapped them back out. I tried removing some of the rubber nozzles to increase the water pressure. I have decided what to did with shower head, hopefully I can send it back because it much to be desired in the performance arena. They have the aesthetics figured out but nothing else. Also i measured my flow rate without a shower head with a 5 gal bucket which is 4.25 gpm.

I was able to bend the corners back good enough that you can't tell unless you get up ...

Arrived damaged. We bought two of these, and both had bent corners. This damage was from the factory because the packaging was not damaged at all. I was able to bend the corners back good enough that you can't tell unless you get up close to them. These do work super great though, and they get a huge WOW from everyone who sees them, especially when we turn them on.
