Typical pleated furnace filter

Have used similar filters in our 2-yr old Trane system and another we purchased in '08. These are not your grandfather's "furnace filters". They are 4" deep with multiple pleats providing a much greater surface area in which to capture dust particulates, animal dander, etc. Earlier models of 4" filters recommended changes every 90 days, compared to 30 days for typical 1" thick filters in use. THIS FILTER TOUTS UP TO 1 YEAR OF SERVICE. My experience does not support reasonable expectation of that service life. This is the 4th one for us and we're changing at about 6 mo. intervals. This filter adds a carbon pre-filter to reduce some odors. So...with a price tag north of $100, you may not see the value. To maintain even temperature through our house, and to reduce any contaminants in the air, we operate our blower in either 'Circulate' or Continuous' mode. This provides improvement in air quality at the cost of filter life. There are other units available at considerably lower cost. The carbon pre-filter layer also adds additional cost. Look for MERV 13 filtration performance when comparing this one to others. My experience is that most become restricted much sooner than the "Up To...." indication on the packaging. Check them regularly especially if you operate your blower for circulation even when heat/cool are not operating.

One of the best whole house filters out there

I’m particular about my whole house filters. This one does an excellent job at reducing dust and doors. This design ensures that no air bypasses around the filer which I like. Highly recommend.

Perfect match and fit Site also had 3 versions of filtration choice And a way to remind you to buy a new one after a certain amount of time, which I signed on to. Delivery was pretty fast too.

Worth the Extra Expense

I was more than a little skeptical at first. Paying about twice the cost of a standard 413 filter and getting only six months of use out of it? But I've just ordered this model for the second time because I was so impressed with its ability to control odors. With three dogs and home meals cooked almost nightly, there was a lot of odor to control. The 413 CBN worked well, and is worth the extra cost.

Changed and not for the better

They changed the quality of this product and it’s not working as well as the previous. I had to contact three times to get the information that it had changed and the quality is not as thick and has less carbon. I may get the step below it to compare because it looks more like that one. It has not be cleaning the air as well as the previous ones which is highly unfortunate.
