Not the Belle Epoque that I have

Several years ago I was in a specialty furniture store and they had Belle Epoque sheet sets for sale. They were 400 thread count and they were the softest, silkiest sheets I had ever felt in the package. I purchased three sets. I found them again at Furniture Land South in North Carolina and bought another set. Ever since then I have been looking everywhere to find more. I even contacted the company that makes them to see where I could buy them. I was told that they don't make them anymore, but they have 420 thread count instead. Well, I decided to try these and they are terrible compared to the 400 thread count. These are scratchy and not even in the same category of a luxury sheet. It is impossible to find soft and affordable sheets now. I have sheets from Walmart that are softer than these!!!! I think the days of buying quality merchandise is over.

Slippery sheets

The color is much, much darker than portrayed. Sheets have a slick, sateen feel. They are not described as sateen. Will keep them only for guests who prefer that type of finish. Won't buy this brand again. But, it's mainly because of my personal dislike for the finish.

Corners won't stay down...

The corners of the fitted sheet will NOT stay down. The sheets are soft and good quality but what a PITA that the corners keep popping off whenever you move.

The two star review is wrong, wrong, wrong!

These sheets are wonderful! See my comments to the two star, Hodges, review to see how I feel! Needless to say, they are well worth the price. 5/14/14 I still like these sheets. One big problem, however! They don't have enough elastic on the fitted part that fits under the mattress and I fight with them bunching up every night. I sleep alone and can only imagine what it would be like with two in the bed. Very disappointing! They also are a wrinkled mess but I can live with that. Still soft and large enough to cover all the bed and the sides as well and the pillows.

Rough Choice

The sheets are very pretty. They are the exact shade of blue that I wanted and the detailing is well done. But I thought that the thread count would mean that the sheets would be soft and smooth to the touch. They aren't. I've laundered them several times, but they are no softer. I am disappointed with this purchase.

Disappointed!!!

I have been purchasing these sheets for years (from a variety of sources). They are usually so wonderfully soft and it is just heaven to crawl into bed. This set is a disappointment! They are no softer than my cheap sets from Target! The package says all the right words...but one has to wonder. They are nothing like my past sets of Belle Époque pima cotton sheets! ????

Pamper yourself for a pittance.

I always hesitate to buy items online which I need to "feel" but I lucked out on these sheets. They are very soft and have a wonderful, rich sheen and a lovely hand.If I had more closet space I'd get more of these.

I have used this brand for many years,,,love them! The color was a surprise though. These sheets are not taupe as advertised--more like honey/straw color--almost gold.
