HUGO BOSS Men's Quartz Watch with Stainless Steel Strap in black .... Not made by Movado anymore?

OK, traditionally Hugo Boss watches were made by Movado, a reputable Swiss watch maker. But I am not sure now. Many designer brands that peddle watches (Calvin Klein, for one) will put on their watch dial face "SWISS MADE" as a badge of honor, signifying inherent/inferred quality, while others may denote "SWISS MOVEMENT", even though rest of the watch components might be made/assembled elsewhere. Others may put "Japan Movement" in similar vein. Not that Japan movement is necessarily inferior but if your favorite designer brand switched from Swiss made/movement to Japan movement, do you think it is better? As witnessed by the current offerings from Hugo Boss watches, there is no inscription as to the origins of the watch movement, while their booklet insert clearly states that their movement is Made in Japan. My assumption is that comparable Japan Movement costs less than Swiss Made/Movement. Therefore, I see this as a sly cost cutting maneuver on part of Hugo Boss to pad the bottom line. I like Movado; therefore, I like Movado made Hugo Boss watches. I see value in their watches knowing that they were actually Swiss made. These newer Hugo Boss watches? Yeah, they are still nice watches with strong design elements, but for me, inherent value is no longer there for me at these prices now that they are no longer Swiss made. Hence, a loss of star.

i love the design - this looks great with business casual attire

The media could not be loaded. I am wearing this super neat wristwatch right now and within the business casual context. With a black tie and a white and black button down shirt with the sleeves rolled up I am sporting a look I am happy with. Hugo Boss is a trusted brand I have always been happy with so this watch was based on trust and it did not let me down. What is unique about this watch is the face in the center is showcased to a heightened extent due to the strap being super thin metal. If the strap was say a standard leather variation the effect would be taken away. This watch matches well with solid dark colored ties with my preference being black or navy blue. The strap is of a sturdy metal that is put together in a way that you can't tell it is metal when wearing it. This is due to the thin design of the metal in that it has spaces within the way it is linked that allows it to have a certain degree of flexibility. The strap is not of the standard hole and fastener style but rather with a metal clasp contraption that features the brand name on the clasp face. I like way it snaps into place. There is a way a way to adjust the receiving end of the clasp so you can widen it. I can tell because there are notches faintly visible on the strap with a few going beyond where the receiving part of the contraption is indicting this is for adjustment. To adjust the strap you simply use a safety pin and push upwards on the open slot where you snap the clasp into place. This watch came pre set to the right time and fully functional. I like how there are single metal lines to indicate the hour. This is interesting because it is not a roman numeral or some other recognized numerical variation but a single line that repeats. I find that to be classy and like it. I love how the wristband shines with a nice gloss. In conclusion I am very happy with this watch from the Boss line and recommedn it.

Minimalistic and Stylish!

I got this watch to be worn with suits and Florida summer dress wear. Boss hits another home run by designing a very stylish, slim, and lightweight face. I've been really impressed with the minimalistic-style watches lately and have begun to collect them. The packaging was extremely elegant. This watch would make a PERFECT gift for any occasion. I love the black-on-black theme that Boss went with- very classy. This watch looks great with a grey or blue suit or even more casual summer wear like a nice pair of shorts and polo. This watch is so light that I forget I'm even wearing it. It seems to keep excellent time and is definitely well constructed. The clasp is secure, and there is no fear of it coming undone like some of my cheaper watches have in the past. The face is very smooth and resists scratches or smudging. Overall, this is a great watch and I couldn't recommend it enough. I think more people should be wearing watches like this- it would make the world a slightly better place to live. :)

Almost perfect

I love this watch...a lot. There are a couple of minor negatives but these are more personal preference. The bezel is very small and because of that the watch "wears" larger, it feels like a 42 or 44 millimeter case, I would like to see the case two or three millimeters smaller. The mesh bracelet is butter but sometimes this kind of clasp can be hard to tell if you closed it properly and if you did not the watch will fall off your wrist soon. Everything else about this watch I love. For those that like to cultivate a dark casual look, this is your watch. Love the minimalist dial including no second hand. Has one of the thinnest cases you can buy, especially for an analog watch. Despite the dark minimalist look it is very easy to read the time, the hands are highly polished and pick up the littlest amount of light. This might be my favorite mesh bracelet ever, the look, comfort and easy to size. Have not stopped using this watch since I got it, very highly recommended.

Yes, it really is that gorgeous!

This Boss watch is every bit as simple, elegant, stylish and beautiful as in the description photo. It is not way oversized or trendy, but a classic, thin and easy to read watch that will look timeless decades from now. If you only want one watch that works with everything from jeans to a tuxedo, this black watch is the answer. If you're looking for a really nice gift to give, you don't have to worry about anyone not liking this watch. It comes in a really nice box with a presentation perfect for any occasion. The watch band is easy to adjust without taking to a jeweler. The designer Boss name on the face is just icing on the cake to reinforce your refined taste in fashion.
