Thin like neck gaiters
I am looking for a thin hat to wear in the fall and winter. The thicker hats get too warm when I'm working outside in cold weather. This one is basically the same material as the Buff neck gaiters. A little too thin but will keep the wind from blowing directly on your ears. I use hats from Mountain Hardwear but am looking for something just a little thinner. I also have a Grid Fleece Beanie from Mtn Ops. It's about the right thickness but has a light itch to it sometimes.

Thin
This is a very thin hat. Its not made for winter. I bought it for a super lightweight hat for hiking to save weight. And in chilly or windy weather to keep my ears warm. And it does that perfectly. Also think it might work well under a snowboard helmet. I bought it for the merino wool properties and not much more. I feel like if I wore this out in the snow tho, it would be as if I had no hat on. Or at the least it would only break the wind a little for my ears, but it is very lightweight, comfortable, fits low around your ears/back of the neck and is a nice hat. Just don't think you'll be getting a winter hat with this.

Exactly what I wanted
I shave my head and wanted a hat I could wear indoors, feels comfortable, breathes, doesn't interfere with my hearing when it is pulled over my ears and most importantly looks good. If you want an outdoor beanie for colder temperatures this is not the hat for you, for example, you are going to sitting outside in frigid temps doing nothing, at a sports event or if it is windy outside. If you are doing something active without a lot of wind it will work great. It is thin and it is wool. It is exactly what I was looking for. I have other hats for extreme temps. The only negative I would even give it is the logo, but it is the same color as the hat so not even that big of a deal. I also get compliments on it even wearing it indoors and I try very hard to avoid the D'bag hipster look.

Very thin material
The hat fits nicely and covers the ears, however the material is very thin. I own the buff and it is the same thickness. I personally wanted a very thin material for active activities. If your looking for warmth, this is definately not for you. Go for the medium weight or higher.

comfortable, useful
Wonderful little cap for wearing indoors in winter or under a hat outside. (I don't know yet, but predict will also be good outside in summer.) I also sleep in it sometimes, can pull down front over eyes. I had already bought several polyester gaiters that can fold into caps before I discovered this wool cap in a cancer hospital gift shop. I bought that one there and then bought another one here on amazon. Love it. May buy a couple more. Easy to hand wash and dries quickly.

Run for their money
Nice option to the smartwool 150, the 2” band is about double but provides a snug fit. Great sleeping cap and a bit bigger the the smartwool. We’ll see now how it holds up.

Great fitting, light weight warmth
As a hair challenged individual, I love me some hats! This one is my new favorite. It's very light weight but warm (at least for Southern California winters). The lay flat stitching is very well done and doesn't itch like other merino knit caps I've tried. It fits my size 7 1/2 head great unlike other "one size fits none" hats.

What happened?
If I could leave negative 5 rating I would. I have been buying Buff hats for years, and they are among the best, softest, warmest, most comfortable hats I have ever worn. Over the summer moths ended up eating my old Lightweight Merino Wool Benie, so I though to order another one. When it arrived I was absolutely shocked. My original Lightweight Merino Wool Benie has been work for 3 winters, and has kept my head nice and toasty in some of the coldest winter days. When it gets really cold I put on my Heavyweight Merino Wool Benie, which is just incredible, soft, warm, and so nice to war. This one I just got, is toilet paper thin. I do not joke. I squirrel could blow on it and it would fly very far. I would not wear this hat in 20 degree weather if I was cold. It is worthless. What happened? How do you go from a hat I can wear in the winter, to one I can not wear in the summer? And it costs the exactly what I paid for my original? Shame on you Buff. Shame.

Light but warm
It's very thin and light but surprisingly warm! I wore it a few nights when I had to be out there at subzero and didn't feel the cold. It could also act as a base layer and add another thick wool beanie outside of it but I don't think it's necessary unless it's -50F. :)

Great is cooler weather
Says neck warmer but it’s a hat, it’s light duty like a bandanna but amazingly warm in cooler weather. I was surprised about how warm it kept my bald head. It was warm in -8. I wore it under my other Light Marino wool toque when it got to almost -20 and my head was a little too warm but it was really good.

Ligero y muy comodo
bastante ligero y delgado, flexible como los buff de cuello, calienta bien y muy compacto, ideal para viajar o llevar de excursión sin aumentar el volumen de carga
