If you want to keep your hands warm (period), THESE ARE IT
It’s effective, almost too effective, at keeping or getting your hands warm while in freezing cold temperatures. I’ve been through too many gloves, expensive and cheap, and my hands would eventually get cold. I’d gotten my toddlers these same mittens and after playing in the snow realized their hands were not cold at all when we got back indoors. I aesthetically prefer gloves but I realistically prefer warmth, so I figured I’d lose nothing but trying some adult men’s mittens for myself. Since I got these I have continued to be surprised at how warm my hands would remain in these things. And even more impressive is that when I put them on after I’d already had my hands out in the cold for too long, my hands would warm back up in a few minutes. As someone who spent a few winters buying and trying many different gloves and brands, I can say without a doubt that these get the job done of you want to be out in the cold doing activities without your fingers going numb. If you’re mitten-averse like I was, I get it. There are some limits to what you can do/grab/touch. But it’s not that much more of a hindrance than gloves already are. You can’t wiggle your fingers freely. And to get the maximum insulation they should fit your hand more snug than loose. I had a slightly larger pair (XL) first and it let in a little bit of air when I wore those in the cold so stuck with the large. I can’t spread my fingers fully with them on but i can spread them just enough to relax my hands. If you value warmth as part of comfort this won’t be an issue, but again, a size up gives you more room but a bit more cold air in exchange.

Warm, very limited dexterity, liner wants to come out
I bought these for a quick ski trip. I figured I'd go with mittens and avoid the cold fingers that ski gloves often give you. Well, these delivered on the warmth. So much so that my hands were actually sweating....which the bmade my hands cold when the sweat cooled...not really sure where that leaves us. There's a lot of extra fabric in these so doing anything is difficult. I could barely zip up my jacket. Only other thing to note is that the liner in the glove, while very warm, did seem to want to come with my hand up on removal. For the record, it never did, but I was deliberately grabbing the glove and liner with my other hand to keep that from happening. A more hasty exit may have resulted in an inverted liner. All around, these were fine for skiing and they certainly held up (though it was just one day). I will likely use them for other outdoor activities that do not require dexterity like shoveling and such.

Not for cold weather
Bought mittens for snow plowing in the cold, hand get colder than in snow mobile gloves under 25 degrees

Amazing for 0-25 degrees F
I already have 4 pairs of these that my dad and brother have been using for at least 5 years now. They are very durable. We originally used them for skiing and snowboarding but I then started using them for ATVing and snowmobiling in the winter along with arborist work i.e. running chainsaw, moving logs, skidsteering, etc. The pair that is the most "worn" of any of them has the outer layer just barely starting to get rubbed through on the finger tips part. Bought another because I forgot to take a backup pair down to school with me for ski trips and just ordered another since they are so cheap. I get cold hands very easily and these will make my hands sweat if its not sub 25 or 20 F to the point that I would have to take my hands out on the lifts for them to cool off. I have only had to crack open handwarmers a handful of times, all of which involved sub zero temps. These mittens made me mad that I ever spent $90 on a pair of Dakine gloves that didn't keep my hands warm in even sub 20 degrees and they were torn up on the finger tips after one season of snowboarding... Absolute best bang for your buck for mittens.

Warm and Comfy
I did a lot of glove shopping trying to find something affordable that was also warm. I finally came across these mittens and I’ll be the first to say that I was very skeptical because it was so much cheaper in price. Once I put them on I could tell I was going to be cooking with gas. Very warm inside the mitten and also looks good with that classic Carhartt brown look. Big fan! Bought these in 2017 and still use them today for skiing, snow shoveling, snowball fights, and snow angels.

Almost too warm!
My hands and fingers often get extremely cold when using traditional ski gloves so I decided to try mittens. These mittens kept my hands very warm during a 3 day ski trip to Jackson Hole, WY. In fact, my hands were actually sweating at times even though temps were in the teens and 20s and it was snowy and windy each day. Overall the gloves performed great. They seem well made and durable. I wear size L in most gloves but the size L in these mittens was too small for my hands. My fingers were touching the ends of the gloves and were uncomfortable, despite there being plenty of width. I exchanged the size L for XL and the fit was perfect.

Good mitten
I got these for my boyfriend who is tough on mittens and gloves. So far they are holding out well in the Upper Michigan winter.

gifted from mom
This was gifted to my son who has discovered how great skiing is on a Friday night! Having been a weekend warrior ski bum in the 70's & 80's, I was able to set him up with some of my old gear and knowledge. My mitts are heavy & bulky & filled with feathers & still used to shovel the driveway. Very impressed with the fabric, warmth and fit of the new mitts. Thank you Carhartt for the quality. Looking forward to a durable and long-lasting product.

Warm Mitts
Although they keep my hands warm ,(I have poor circulation in my fingers ) these mitts tend to trap moisture in them and must be turned inside out to properly dry . Other than that are of good quality and I use them daily .

Solid mitts
If you’re looking for a lightweight but warm mitten, this is it. I wear them skiing all the time and have never been cold in them. Only problems with them are there’s no wrist straps so you can’t take them off on a lift, which sucks because my hands really start to sweat. Second problem is you need to flip them inside out to dry because they hold moisture from those aforementioned sweaty hands. They do dry pretty quickly though and are thankfully pretty easy to flip inside out. Overall a great mitten for the price.

Warm mittens
These things keep your hands very warm. I struggled to find mittens that kept my hands warm, these 100% keep my hands warm. But, the inside of the gloves do stay damp for quite some time. If I put them on inside my hands sweat and then the inside stays damp for a while. But, they're great at keeping the hands warm.
