Attractive watch but sometimes not easy to see

The Casio G-Shock GA-400-1B watch looks great in its pictures because all of the functions are so easy to see. But in practice, only the hour and minute hands are easy to see unless it is well lit. The problem is how the date, day of the week, digital time, and month are recessed down deep into the watch face. The hour and minute hands of the analog functionality are easy to read in regular interior room lighting because they are at the highest level of the watch face. Thus, for a person who only needs to see the current time, he can just look at the hands of the analog time function and see what he needs to see. But in regular interior room lighting, I have found that I have to tilt the watch toward a light source (like a room light or a window) to allow more light to illuminate the recessed functions of date, day of the week, digital time, and month in order to read them. This problem is only apparent indoors. When outdoors in bright sunlight, everything is easy to read. Having said the above, the watch is attractive, easy to adjust, and has all of the common digital functions that the better Casio G-Shock watches usually have. So, it is a good, stylish watch that is attractive to look at but that, in my opinion, is poorly designed.

Excelente opción para usar en exteriores

Es un gran reloj, el diseño y sus botones facilitan el acceso rápido a todas sus funciones, un diseño sencillo ya que su pantalla de lcd invertida puede pasar desapercibida pero en día soleado y de frente es de buena lectura. La construcción es de resina muy resistente, su extensible no es muy ergonómico pero bueno, cumple con el desempeño de todo un G-Shock todo terreno, el punto malo es su iluminación, muy pobre o casi nula, durante la noche es imposible ver sus display y en ocasiones las manecillas se pierden con los bordes de su pantalla lo cual dificulta su lectura. Excelente pieza para usar solo en día soleado.

Looks tactical, but not practical tactical..

As usual the light sucks.. tactically its not too practical but it looks cool ???? Also, the clasp is not metal, that was a bummer.. Not really worth what I spent for it, but hey, I can live with it..

read the reviews and i'm not sure what all people were expecting in regards to night use. this isn't your typical digital watch, it's very much a hybrid, that being said i've tested the LED light in various dark conditions and it's perfectly acceptable for telling the time at night. is it the clearest and brightest to read? no way, but that doesn't prevent me from actually telling the time if i need to read it in the dark. all that aside, this watch is amazing! it looks even better in person than in the photos. has a ton of features and is very aesthetically pleasing. so just know what you're buying, if you need something with excellent backlighting for night use, stay away from this watch. otherwise, it more than exceeds my expectations in every other area.

Beautiful Watch but cant read.

The watch is beautiful but cant read. It has a light that serves no function as it does not light up the digital portion of the watch and you really cant see the analog portion of it either. Cant see the time at night at all. Casio should have recognized the light is no good at all.

Very nice watch.

This is my fifth G shock. The functionality of this watch it s no different than most other models. However the crown on the right side allows you to move to the count down timer much quicker than having to scroll through the mode button. I like the display. It's stands out more that on other G shock models. The backlight is still in need of improving. The Band I changed myself. A Red Model GA700 band fits this watch like a glove, in case anyone was wondering. Great watch. Worth every penny.
