The complexity

Want to add levels of complexity to catan...this is it. The expansion and player expansion is a bit of a racket but great business model. it is a bit complex at first to setup and get the parts you need from the sets. so setup way before planning to play. lots of options and would strongly suggest playing each level until you are comfortable before moving to the next.

Great Expansion to an awesome game

We have the original Catan and were gifted the for player expansion for Xmas. I purchased this to go with the 4 player expansion. We love this version as it has several variations that you can play. Adding the pirates and fish is awesome and adds another level to the game. Well worth the money as we will be playing this for years to come.

You need more than just Catan: Settlers to use this expansion

For this, you need the original Catan: Settlers, ,Catan: Explorers and Pirates, and the 4-6 player expansion to Catan: Settlers. We bought this thinking we could use it to just expand Catan: Settlers but that is not the case. I hope this stops someone else from making the same mistake.

Fog of War Added ..... Great, but get ready for a challenge on setup.

Really cool add-on for Catan but it is not for someone who wants to have a simple game of Catan. I love it but when you take the base, 5-6 standard, explorers and pirates expansion, and then the explorers and pirates 5-6 expansion you have to take a bit to set the board up. Putting it away is a whole other adventure. This said, I am not one to shy away from a challenging game and this one is both fun and challenging. It really changes Catan to be one where it is a combination of a builder game and an exploration game. It really adds a sense of the "fog of war" to the game.

Great Extension

As any other Extension for Catan or its Expansions, it provides the ability to have 5-6 players on it. Took off 1 star because there were some pieces missing, or in reality misprinted. Waiting to get replacement for those.

Purchased As A Gift

I bought this for my daughter's boyfriend for Christmas. They love to play Catan and have a lot of the extension series. They can play this game for hours. Good packaging and came on time. Would recommend.

Nice expansion.

Got this 5-6 player expansion along with Catan Explorers and Pirates. I haven't got more than 4 players to try this out. I did play Explorers and Pirates and liked it. I'm sure I'll like playing this one too! This box did not come with the instructions. Instead, it had the 'Start Here' instructions from the base game. I downloaded it from the website...

Bello ma non quello che cercavo

Il gioco è arrivato perfetto, ma metto 3 stelle perché non pensavo che per poter usare l'espansione bisognasse avere l'espansione base de "I coloni di Catan" per 5-6 giocatori.

Catan Expansion

A brilliant game with four different scenarios that can be played and so has a lot more possibilities in how to play the game than other expansions do. A note to add is that it is only compatible with settlers of catan made after 2007 as pre-2007 games don't have the board frame. You can buy the adapter kit to solve this problem.
