Not Flattering, but WARM

This is a GODSEND. This jacket is my go to winter jacket in windy, sub-freezing temperatures. Do you look boxy? YES. But do you care? No! Because you're the only warm one in the city. The length offers protection to my calves, which means with knee high boots, my whole body stays protected from the wind/cold. I love the pockets being completely vertical because they don't "pull" my sleeve up like angled pockets do. I also prefer them because my hands rest there naturally. Your results may vary. (5 foot 7 female for reference). The fur on the hood is completely unnecessary, distracting, and a snow magnet. I do love the lining in the hood, the fauxSherpa lining "sticks" to my beanie and holds the hood up in the wind. My only complaint comes from the frustration of trying to get the zipper to cooperate with my fingers. It's only because it's at the knee, and once your in the jacket, it's a bit bulky and harder to get to the zipper. Size: XXL Height: 5 ft 7 in Weight: 180lbs Chest: 44 inches Sizing thoughts: XXL does feel a little big in the body, but if I got an XL the arms would be too small for sweaters underneath.

Warm and good quality materials

**Origional review 5 stars** I bought this coat for winter chores in Kansas where it can get below zero, and we often have the brisk winds. I am 5'5", 130 lbs, small chest, 11" upper arms. I originally ordered a medium. If I was using this for commuting , this size would have been perfect. The sleeves hit at the base of my thumbs and the coat ended about 3" above the knee. The shoulders and arms fit without feeling binding with a lightweight long sleeve shirt on, however, was snug in the arms with a sweatshirt and pulled across the back when I moved. Because I need it for chores, I wanted more length and the ability to layer so I ordered the large. The sleeves cover to just past the base of my fingers and the coat goes to my knees. I can comfortably wear a shirt with flannel shirt or a sweatshirt layered under the coat. The coat is warm. I was starting to sweat in it while testing the layering system so I'm confident it will work when I'm out doing chores. A couple reviews mentioned gaps in the hood between buttons allowing wind in. The hood itself is sewn on. The faux fur is buttoned on and did gap, but I realized it was put on my hood backwards. I buttoned it on so the fur faced the inside of the hood, then folded it back on itself so the fur faced out. This covers the seam and there were no gaps. I don't know about the look, but when i adjust the hood strings, it does give a little more coverage around the face to block out the bitter winds. **UPDATE dropped to 4 stars ** I left the coat on the back porch, it was 50 deg. I went out to feed the horses and it was 30 deg no wind. I had on a t-shirt and could feel the chilly silver lining against my body. It wasn't really cold, but was not warm either. It never heated up from my body temperature after 1/2 hour of chores. I brought the coat into the house. Went to feed and it was 23 deg with 9mph winds. I wore a long sleeve t-shirt this time. Despite being in a 78 deg house (you can thank my elderly mother for that) the silver lining still felt chilly. I went inside and put on a lightweight flannel shirt over the long sleeve t-shirt. This time I could not feel the silver lining, but was not "toasty" warm, just comfortable. If I was not moving around I probably would have felt a little chilly. I will definitely need thicker layers as the temperature drops. As to durability, I walked too close to a hedge apple tree branch and thorns snagged the shoulder of the coat. When I got inside, I couldn't find any markings from the thorns. I put the coat in the house

Nice coat but too big.

I am 5' 6" weight 138 pounds and usually wear a large. This coat was too big and long for my liking. The sleeves were very long, too. Too bad because the coat looks warm, durable and windproof. I'm sending it back and looking for another coat.

Great winter jacket

Very warm and cushy on the inside. Cute comfortable. Had zipper and buttons. i wish the fur was sewn into the hood.

Great in cold weather!

I am from Texas and was going to Denver in February for a business trip. None of my jackets would suffice! I bought this one because it was long enough to keep my whole body warm and I did not regret it! It is so comfy and warm! While it isn’t advertised and compact and packable, I found I was able to pack it by rolling it very easily. Highly recommend this for cold weather!

Warm, happy with my choice

I sized up to a large to accommodate my chest (I'm 5 feet tall, usually a size 10, 36DDD chest) and I'm glad I did. The jacket either fits well or is a little roomy all over - it's not snug anywhere. The sleeves are too long and I wish there was a wrist guard or some elastic there to keep the sleeves right. Overall, I'm going to keep the jacket because it's very very warm, it generally fits well (no michelin man poofs and the front pockets are oddly flattering), and I don't mind having my hands tucked into my sleeves and warm. I will note that after wearing it for a few days, the neck sometimes pokes into my chin a little (because the coat is slightly large). Still doesn't bother me all that much. I live in Chicago and winter is freezing right now, so I'm qualified to speak to warmth. I chose this jacket over other competitor jackets because it was on sale. If it was full price, I might have comparison shopped with Eddie Bauer and North Face a bit more before making my purchase.

Flattering and mostly functional

This was my only black Friday purchase. I became frustrated with the rapid decline of rothco's products and wanted a change. Kept me cozy in 20-40 degree weather, once it hit 7 degrees I needed to have thermals on underneath. Cell phone pocket is so handy. Build quality seems to be better than some other columbia purchases I've made recently.u Coat is incredibly flattering and gives you an hourglass shape. True to size and a little form fitting on top. If you like to layer with bulky things I would size up. The fur on the hood is a little cheap looking but I don't hate it. Only issues I've noticed: no toggles for the drawstrings on the hood so they don't stay exactly how I'd like. I also wish this coat had a zipper vent for when things get a little sweaty.

I haven't worn it yet, but it looks like it will be very warm in the cold weather.

It has a reflective lining in the body, which I didn't expect. I think it will be a good thing in cold weather.

I live in Canada - Manitoba be be exact so we get to -50 celcius here. I bought this to walk to work in during the winter. I am 5'7, 185lbs with a 38c bust and the large was perfect with a hoodie underneath. I have slightly broad shoulders and could move my arms freely in every direction. It has a flattering waistline as well.
