Nice Lock….but don’t use long screws and add weather stripping if needed

The lock itself is very sturdy. Don’t use the long screws they provide. While screwing in one of the long screws, the head of the screw broke off. Instead, I use 3 inch outdoor wood deck screws for hinges and strike plates, which are very strong. So I used those for this too. For two of them, I added black weather stripping along the black plastic pieces because the door jam placed the lock out further. You can use scissors to trim the weather stripping so it fits snug when you close the lock against the door. Again, I do not recommend using the cheap screws that come with this product. For a few extra dollars, and piece of mind, I recommend using 3 inch or longer outdoor deck screws. They are much stronger and will last much longer.

Very nice lock

I was sure that I would like this style of lock, but I was impressed with the ease of installation and the looks of it. It’s also easy to lock and unlock. It also meets the code requirements for Texas residential rental deadbolts. Very happy with this purchase.

Small but Powerful

Excellent quality and install very easily. It will take a little longer if you have to chisel a mortise in a tight door to jam situation. Lots of the reviews mention the lack of strength with the screws. I did not find this to be true. Here are some tips for installing the screws with ease. I suggest using a 6 inch 1/8" drill bit and use tape to mark the depth of the 3" inch screws that are included. Drill each hole to the tape mark. On the thread of the screw add some Dawn liquid or similar soap to lubricate the screw threads. This is an old trick but a useful one. You can power drill or hand tighten the screws. Don't over power the installation because that how screw heads become easily stripped. Bottom line this is a great product that is convenient to use and gives added peace of mind.

Great physical door lock!

The lock works great! I would suggest using better screws to secure the device to the door frame. The screws that come with the lock are very soft. There is a high probability of stripping the screw head when securing the lock to the door frame.

Economical but strong and easy to install --- keep it simple!

This arrangement worked the best for me because I have a pushbutton deadbolt lock that has case that is 7/8 inch deep, and flip locks made for ordinary (round shaped) deadbolts simply won't work for my situation. Since this doesn't mount on top of a deadbolt turn handle like a flip lock, this was the ultimate solution for me. This was less money that a flip lock, and the irony is that if someone does successfully pick or bump my electronic deadbolt, I will know that someone attempted, and they still won't be able to get in. I needed to do a little mortise work with a chisel to recess the mounting plate a bit, but I'm pretty handy and have done that sort of thing before. Overall, the mounting was super easy and pretty fast. It's nice to know that this can withstand an amazing 800 pounds of resistance, which is a great partner for my metal door. And of course the bright brass finish matched the rest of my hardware very nicely. Thank you.

Great lock, weak screws

The lock works like a charm, exactly what we needed to keep our daughter in the apartment and make us feel safer at night. The screws on the other hand are quite flimsy/cheap. Attempting to screw them into the metal door frame with the correct size holes (slightly larger even) I spun the heads off 2 of the 3 screws. I recommend using other 3 inch screws the mount this, since the heads of the screws would probably break off under enough force.

Amazing, Easy & Strong!

I put this on my garage door into the house because I didn't have a deadbolt. It's AWESOME! it's really easy to install and super secure. Made the wife very happy for when I travel. Highly recommend it over other interior lock options.

Feels like a cheaper knock off product

It’s cheaper, but it’s a knock off version of the one I had from Home Depot 10 years ago. The included screws are very weak. I predrilled into my wood frame to prevent cracking. One screw the head came off, the second broke and the third included screw head stripped. Very soft metal. I replaced those screws with some construction ones I had. Although the issue is resolved, I’m worried about the overall quality of the lock now from this experience.
