Better looking than I expected
I bought this mat expecting it to be effective and durable, and so far it has been. From the construction of this I estimate it may outlive me, and I hope to be around for another couple of decades. In the months I've had it, the mat has not reacted with or bled color into my composite decking; that has been a problem with molded rubber mats I have tried. The biggest surprise of this mat for me has been that on my doorstep it is rather handsome. My expectations were set low by other mats made of tires I had seen over the years, but this one with its herringbone pattern presents more rubber to the eye, and less metal gridwork, than I expected. I had considered buying a smaller one but am glad I bought the 24x36. There is one bizarre twist to the purchase process: the mat shows up on the Amazon order as "black/yellow". That almost made me cancel the order since I wanted just black. I reviewed the product questions and found a reassuring answer that yes it says that but no it's all black.

Brought this to put outside my camper door to keep from tracking in dirt. Works great!! Very well made, heavy duty, should last for a long time.

the 36x24 mat was exactally what I was looking for, these things are indistructable, My parents had one for at least 40 yrs and it never showed showed signs of age or failure, great product, great mid-century engineering.

Have this in front of my shop. Cleans shoes and boots well. Heavy and will not blow away. Well constructed.

I liked the smaller version of this 2' x 3' so much that I purchased two more for two different purposes. The original mat review - AT BOTTOM - was incomplete in that I failed to address the moisture issue that resulted from other recycled rubber/tire mats in contrast to this type. The issue is that I found mildew and mold to build up under the other mats whereas the open areas of this herringbone design allow for rapid evaporation after the frequent rains we get here in Florida. Yet another of the reasons I love these mats. I bought this larger mat 36" x 60" for in front of my workbench in the garage. I had some lighter weight foam mats for the "fatigue" issues of standing on cement in the garage. However, after standing on this, though it is definitely firmer, I thought this would be even better and it is. I like the slotted openings for capturing debris from wood working or other things and I found that not much sticks to the surface areas so it does a great job of capturing the debris. Also, it is really heavy so it does not slide around like some of the foam/ fatigue mats I have had. I also bought this in 24" x 48" for in front of my grill. I have a separate cement pad dedicated to the grill that is away from the house and the patio. It is on a Southern exposure so it gets a lot of sun... which is saying something here in Florida. I opted for this both for the anti-fatigue as well as the durability of the mat. I have only used it once but I can already see another benefit: In spite of being Black/Charcoal in color, it does not retain the heat the same as some other Rubbermaid recycled tire/ rubber 16" square tiles I have had. -----------------------ORIGINAL REVIEW on first mat I purchased--------------------------------------------------------- ****** First Impressions - Will post again after a month or two and give feedback on durability after use in the Florida sun. Wow... first impression is HEAVY and durable. Given the quality construction I suspect I won't be replacing this any time soon. This was purchased for use on the patio just outside the slider door so it is a high traffic, daily use and direct-sun location. The more decorative mats I have had in this location are less then half the thickness of this mat and, though also constructed of recycled rubber/tires, they were not as well constructed and the colors faded fast (some within a week or two, some up to three months in the Florida sun). The thicker herringbone assembly looks like it will hold up better for a longer period of time against dry-rot and crumbling. I suspect this mat will be around a year at least and maybe several! If it holds up as long as it appears like it will, it becomes a much better value. Historically, I have replaced the patio mat one to three times a year for the aforementioned reasons. So far (one afternoon) I am already seeing how the channels trap the dirt and debris so much better than the thinner mats, even those that had a lot of channels. I think the depth of the channels in addition to the sheer number of them increase its effectiveness. The dogs don't track as much into the house each time they go in and out- Thank goodness. I will update in a month or two and let you know if it holds up.

Toughest Doormat Ever
I bought one of these last year to limit the amount of snow, slush and mud from getting into a new home we were constructing. With as many as 12 contractors going in and out of the house countless times a day, this mat did its job. The tough rubber edges allow slush and mud to be "scraped" off someone's boot. You just pick it up and shake out any debris or slush once the grooves fill up if you have that much traffic. I paid $65 CDN in 2019 for a 24x36 mat. Not sure why it's now $155.73 in 2020 foir the same size. Seems like a bit of gouging and the price should go back down by the seller to something more reasonable.

Great outdoor mat!
I really like the mat. Only thing the picture shows a different design ( v- shaped) than what I received. The mat I rec'd was more the original design of rubber mats - horizontal for all pieces of attached rubber. Otherwise I would give it 5 stars. I purchased 2 of this mat previously so it would have been nice if they were exactly alike but not a big deal. Appear to be good quality and suitable for outside or in a workshop at entrance way.

this mat will last you for decades
We've had a mat simular to this for decades so when we installed a patio door out onto the deck we wanted a mat that would withstand all types of weather and knew this was the type of mat we needed. Couldn't find one in local stores but was pleased to find this is exactly what we were looking for. These mats can be left out year round, they take a beating and look like new forever. Was a bonus that this mat comes in various sizes to fit all needs.

Great mat
This is a wonderful high grade mat. Love the heavy weight so no danger of blowing off or warping. We've been using it outside and weather so far has been terrible. Very cold wt lots of wind and snow but mat has been great, preventing slipping and helping remove snow from shoes. Very pleased with our purchase and well worth the price.

Great Quality Mat
Bought this mat to put over a drain in front of a patio door. I needed rain water to be able to get through. It replaces the previous 20 year old tire mat, and it is better made than the old one. Nice pattern, and love that it is made from recycled tires. The only thing to watch is the sizing vs. the price. Maybe some sizes are more popular, and therefore cheaper?
