Initally Disappointed..then (UPDATE) Oct 2017

Best baby/toddler mattress you will ever find! It feels better then my memory foam mattress and the water proof cover is so soft it's crazy!! Your child will thank you!! UPDATE** I repurchased this mattress after being so pleased with my toddlers mattress, I wanted the same one for my 7 month old. Well it's no longer the same. I'll post comparison pictures. My original mattress was purchased last year and my 2nd just came in the mail earlier today. 1) new one is a 1/2 inch longer. That's a plus! Now it fits perfectly snug in the crib. 2) the new mattress smells strong! Like chemicals..it's hope it airs out in the coming days. Original one had no smell at all. 3) the new one is noticeably lighter in weight. I'm not too sure that's a good thing since heavier foams seem to be higher quality. 4) new one has "my first mattress" stiched into the side of it, 1st one does not. 5) the actual two mattresses are different colors (when you unzip the bottom) new one has maybe a half an inch of "gel memory foam" but I honestly can't tell the difference! Besides seeing that it's blue. 6) new one seems to appear thinner 7) lastly, the zipper and bottom material are completely redesigned. My original unzipped all the way around. New one, only unzips half way. I'm not sure how I feel about these changes. I almost feel like these changes were the comany cutting costs? I hope not. I will try and update after I get a better feel of the mattress in the following weeks. Hope this helps someone. UPDATE *2015*: 10 days later and I'm so disappointed. Still giving off a strong chemical smell! Can't close my son's door or it fills the entire room! Put my nose up to it today and gave it a whiff..minutes later feeling light headed with blurred vision..I feel horrible for letting my son take a nap on it earlier today. I still love my toddlers "original" memory foam mattress because I never had an issue with off-gassing. FINAL UPDATE: OCT 2017- Here I am years later and guess what? I've had a change of heart I guess you can say. I was 100% completely honest about my previous reviews but as time went on..the mattress eventually did air out. I currently still own both mattresses and I have a 4 month old daughter sleeping on the one I was so *disappointed* in. They both have held up beautifully. The covers have been washed many times throughout the years and still look just as good as the day I bought them. There's ZERO smell to either one of the mattresses. In conclusion- I have no regrets buying these mattresses. Money well spent.

good value memory foam mattress

We bought this for our 11 month olds who were not sleeping well on the sealy cozy dreams extra firm coil mattress that we bought when they 1st came home. This does feel more comfortable & is much lighter than our coil mattress. I am not sure each side has a different firmness but our mattresses had one white side & a blue side - the blue side seemed softer though. I started them out with the seemingly firmer white side & they are now laying on the blue side. They sleep a lil better but it wasn't the relief that we hoped but it may not be the mattress that's causing them to toss & turn. I have 2 complaints about this mattress: 1) it took more than a few days for the odor to dissipate but we have a tempurpedic mattress ourselves & new this going in - we were just worried about putting them on it too soon & having them breathe in the fumes 2) the zipper on the cover seems not high quality & once I thought it got stripped/broken when the mattress got caught in it while zipping it up. The cover seems nice & soft like velour but the stitching seems slightly weak - it got stretched out a bit in some corner areas & some threads are already stretched loose on the 1st time placing it on the mattress so I fear I may be buying a new cover in the near future due to premature wear & tear but I'm crossing my fingers Our boys like to sleep on their sides & memory foam mattresses make this sleeping position more comfortable without cutting off circulation to whichever arm/leg they are sleeping on due to heavy pressure. I feel it's firm enough for a newborn & wish I had bought this mattress from the very beginning. Although the Angelcare website states not to use their motion sensor baby monitor with memory foam mattresses, I just connected mine anyway just to see if it works & it does - even on the same setting that I had for my coil mattress. That monitor has given me peace of mind & kept a few gray hairs at bay - for the time being at least. I recommend this mattress & would buy it again but would have it way in advance before the babies come home to let it have plenty of time to air it out.

Makes a great dog bed

I decided I wanted to buy a thick, firm foam pet bed for my 75-pound dog, so I started shopping on Amazon. Hours later, I gave up. It may be better now, but at that time the entire product category was dominated by reviews from people who had received the product free or at a deep discount. Shopping under pet beds, I found hundreds of 5-star reviews from people who were not very specific about the product. Clearly they just gave it a quick rave and moved on to the next thing. I went to a couple of stores, but the selection was slim and I didn’t find exactly what I wanted. It occurred to me a crib mattress would be just the right size and shape for my dog, so I started shopping in that category. What a refreshing change! I found lots of crib mattresses and what looked like real reviews from real buyers. I chose this My First Mattress and I’ve been very pleased with it–––and so has my dog. It comes compressed, so I had to lay it out and let it expand. It didn’t have that smell you sometimes get with products like this, so it was ready to use as soon as it plumped up. The waterproof cover is nice and soft, and doesn’t make those weird crackly noises you get with some other waterproofs. It seems to be breathable even though it’s waterproof. The mattress is firm, but gives just enough that my dog finds it very comfortable. I put it down in front of the sliders she likes to survey her domain from, and now she falls asleep there more often than not. She’s getting older and I feel like this will be more comfortable for her aging joints. I hope other dog owners who have been as frustrated as I’ve been looking for pet beds manage to find their way here and see this mattress. Its price compares very well with a lot of pet beds that don’t look nearly as well made.

Love it.

My baby loves this mattress. He's been sleeping in it for almost 6 months now. It's a quiet mattress, he doesn't hear noise when he moves around in the crib like some plastic ones.

Love this mattress

Love this mattress! My daughter is so much more comfortable and is sleeping through the night much better. Just firm enough that I feel comfortable with her in it at a year old. The only thing I have to say negative about it was that the corners didn't properly air out ... not sure what happened, we laid it out flat and left it to "rise" for 72 hours before using it but the corners just didn't rise to meet the same level as the rest. In the meantime I've stuffed some security blankies down the sides but will pull it out in the near future and have a look.

Excelente calidad del colchón. Suave al tacto pero firme a la vez, exactamente lo que buscaba. A mi bebé lo empezamos a acostar en este colchón a partir de su primer mes de forma ocasional y se acostumbró rapidísimo.
