The best total bug shield that also keeps you cool!

OMG … the jacket performed beyond my wildest imagination for total bug protection in the thick of the Amazon jungle, as well as heavy mosquito areas on the mountains. It truly formed a shield where I could see huge bugs come up to and then fly/move away. The protection performance did not fade away despite of almost 24 hr use for several days even when wet. I can very happily state that I did not have a single bug bite (without using any topical repellents) while seeing faces and hands full of bug marks of fellow travelers who were using topical repellents that washed away with rain or sweat. The jacket is also incredibly sturdy while being lightweight. The net pattern on hands and hood made it very airy and lightweight, especially when I had to wear a raincoat over this. The jacket provided a cooling effect in sweltering conditions. The pockets were very helpful to carry things. Bravo and thank you team ExOfficio for making great clothing for expedition travelers!

Runs large so size down

I have learned that Exofficio runs large so I ordered a small for my husband and it fit perfect. This has permethrin infused in it so you should know that is an insecticide not a bug repellant like DEET. This jacket and clothing products won’t stop bugs from biting you but it will increase the likelihood of them dying. So if you are buying this for the bug shield then I highly recommend you spray it with a bug repellant because it is a mesh jacket with large enough holes for mosquitos to bite through. We bought these jackets for an upcoming trip through Thailand for the breathability.

Love the light jacket

However, I do like the bugaway, which does deter bugs and mosquitoes. I've worn it outside pruning and it seems to work well. This beige jacket is nice and allows breath-ability and wicking even in hot humidity. Great buy instead of using chemicals on my skin. Cant wait to test it out when I am out in the evening. I purchased the small mens since it is cheaper, love the color, and longer coverage. I am 5'0" 137 lbs female and looks like a dress on me.

Zippers fail every time!

Zippers failed on the last 3 jackets. I am always very careful with them, but they suddenly & randomly, with no warning just split open in the middle! They are too fragile for such an expensive jacket. I love the jackets, so I keep buying them, but they need heavier duty zippers!!!

I bought the men’s jacket because I liked it’s desi better than the women’s -I liked the extra small zipper pocket in front where small items like keys can be stored. It is light weight and does the job keeping away the bugs. The only disadvantage is the hefty price. You can try to buy it when it is on sale!

Effective product

Good product at a good price.

Bought this for upcoming trip so don’t know yet how it will work out. However it is certainly comfortable to wear and light weight. Appears well made.

I like the ExOfficio brand but this one really didn't work ...

Really has a backwoods look to it. I like the ExOfficio brand but this one really didn't work for me. Fortunately, everyone's style is different. I'm sure it does it's job well but it looks like netting.
