Cheap filters don’t get the junk out of the air stream.

Noticeable change in air quality with high VOC.

The carbon falls off a little if you rub it. Just install and forget. It helped my air quality with high VOCs immediately.

Breath easy

I have been buying these for about a year and have noticed it’s easier to breath. Menudo stinks when cooking it but the filter help get rid of the smell. Helps control the allergies as well.

Absolute best filters for cigarette smoke **see update

**UPDATE** ~ July 2017: I believe the filter quality has gone down. My last two 4pk orders had some noticeable differences - #1. LOTS of loose black carbon dust in packaging (see pics). This NEVER used to be the case. #2. They seem to be significantly lighter than I remember. I suspect they're cutting corners to save $, which really sucks. These are by far the best filters I found to help clean the air of tobacco smoke as well as a house full of cats. As other reviewers have noted, the activated carbon is the key to getting much better results than other filters, even outperforming those with better/higher MERV and MPR ratings. I strongly agree that these filters really do need to be changed out every month. I also write the date replaced on the filter with a marker in order to keep track, even though it's pretty obvious just via visual inspection to tell exactly how "dirty" the filter is. I'm going to post pics of a new filter next to an old one that I removed after 24 days so you can see the difference.

3M filtrete filters are only ones I use

If you normally use the 1500 flow allergen control filtrete filters then you should use these 1200 flow filters. Your air system breaths better with these yet they are good for all the same stuff as 1500. Additionally there is carbon in the filter for oder control. Helps a lot with dog and cig smoke.

Removed faint junk odor!

Bought for cooking odors but this week upon open patio door, skunk was surprised on the patio, thus fumes were awaited indoors. In a few hours, no smell detected by anyone.

I had been using accumulair activated carbon filters with no problem, and when I saw decent prices on these Filtrete 3M filters, I really wanted to try them. I think it helped control cooking odors just as well as the accumulair, so 2 stars. The minus 3 stars is this: they did not fit for the space they were designed for. The AC vent didn't shrink, so I didn't understand why these were such a terrible fit. It was really difficult to put them in and remove them because they had to be jammed and wedged in and then pushed and pulled out. Next, and this is a biggie: the carbon comes off the filter and gets all over your house! I've never had this problem before with an activated carbon filter. At first I was like, oh geez, what are all these black specs everywhere, where are they coming from?! I thought some strange dirt had got in my house from open windows or whatever. This was not normal household dust. As the weather warmed up and the AC started coming on more I realized those black specs were coming out of the air conditioning vents. My AC was literally sucking the charcoal off the filter and blowing it through the vents all over the house. >_< Gross! I changed to a carbon free filter and the 'mysterious black specs' are completely gone. I don't think the charcoal would really hurt anything it landed on, but it sure doesn't look nice and I don't want to inhale it.
