Decent

Heavy and does the trick without needed mounted, but it's constructed from mild steel, so I had to do some gentle bending for it to function at all (the crank arm was blocked by frame out of the box). Smooth movement though. Better than most alternatives out there. Holds plenty of hose.

Design, Fit, Finish

Design: At Hose Connection "swivel" side only maybe two wraps of teflon tape?...resulting in a water leak... Also too much spacing as the drum was not being retained more to "center" Machined up a spacer washer to fit between the connection swivel and the frame... Added a few more turns of tape + sealer...leak & centering fixed. Reel Crank Handle side: It leaked as well... Fix... Filed end of shaft, ( 1/2 Piping nipple used as shafting ) to get a more uniform flat sealing surface, then cut a piece of rubber into a disc then put in the end-cap of the crank handle. More turns of teflon tape + sealer & tighten. Crank Handle: Design.... Just all wrong. Was too short...Was too small in diameter...Hardware was just...wrong ( hole in handle= 1/2" ID...bolt supplied=1/4" ) Bolt supplied was of a "Carriage Bolt" design so the bolt head was too large to fit in the recessed section of the handle. One could add a washer there, but the bolt was not long enough & it would then create a "pinch" area to someone turning on this. So... In the lathe made replacement LARGER handle diameter and fit to the 1/2" bolting idea. Installed a Socket Cap 1/2" bolt with 1/2" flange nuts. Side note: the hole mounting for the original handle supplied...was 1/2" ID... Soooooo why the little handle and hardware..? Project completed & wife is happy Side Note: Would be nice if this good painted finish was available other color options maybe?

Ok for the money

Cons: Teflon tape on each joint appeared to have installed by a 3rd grader. Based on other reviews I did disassemble and use pipe sealant on every joint to prevent leakage. Drum had several open joints which had to be sealed with silicone to prevent water penetrating leading to rust. Handle is floppy due to undersize bolt. Pro: Metal appears to be thick enough to handle the job and the paint looks nice. Nice product, horrible assembly

Good to see Liberty listened to reveiws

So after reading quite a few reviews on this I ordered it. The reel is a pretty stout and I am happy with how it works. Ordered on Saturday received on Tuesday. Shipped from NC. Some reviewers complained of the way the hose comes over the rail from the feed but I did not have any issues with this. I spiraled the hose about half way around the spool to the outer edge and then came through the spokes under the outer rail then made at least two turns to descend to the center drum level and fastened it with tie wraps to the outer ring and the spokes where needed. A new hose works best for this. I read other older reviews of water getting in the outer tubing and the center of the drum through holes left by the manufacturer. They listened to this and my reel did not have any holes in the rings or drum and all welds on the spokes are wrapped 100% around. I hade some 3M 5200 adhesive sealant in my box of tricks and sealed the center drum to the wheels on each end and the seam of the drum with the 5200. These areas were about 90% filled with paint but I could see some areas that looked like water could seep in. The reel took 145 ft. of hose and there is room for at least 55 more ft. so the 200 ft. advertised is plausible. I had a drip every two minutes leak on the drum end of the T but it looks like I may have loosened this connection when assembling the hose and it stopped when I firmly tightened it by hand. The instructions with my unit show how to replace the "O" rings in the swivel connector. My only issue was that when assembled the handle nut hit the side support arm stopping the rotation . It is hard to tell if the handle may have been bent a little in shipping but it looks like it may have been welded a little crooked. After mounting it to the wall I slid a rag and a piece of pipe over it and gave it a tweak that resolved the issue. The reel turns true when taking in hose and dispenses hose without much if any runaway, that I had anticipated it would have, when you stop pulling hose off. I would have given this 5 stars if not for the bent handle and the sealing (not sure what the manufacturer could do for this as 100% weld is probably not an option) I am not anticipating having rust issues from water entrapment now. BTW I could hear debris inside the drum that may be metal filings and they would add to rusty water draining pretty soon after they got wet. Most posts from those that don't want it made in China are 2 or more years old and all I can say is better get used to it. This reel would be way more expensive IF you could find one made in the US. I would purchase from Liberty again. Happy REELING

The quality is not very good

I've got another garden hose reel from this company, very well build, quality components. I needed another reel and decided to try another model. However, this particular model was extremely disappointing. Some components were high quality but some were quite bad, cheap plastic handle which was not even sized properly for example. Mix of brass and aluminum couplings. On top of that, both the frame as well as the wheels were bent. Doe not look like transportation damage, just pool quality control. Also, because of quality issues with the couplings, the rubber seals could not be seated properly, which resulted in 2 leaks. Two shockingly different products from the same company. I've returned the item and bought the same model as my old reel. The quality was great.

Carrete fuerte y resistente

Estaba planeando comprar este carrete desde hace tiempo, y el precio me hacía pensar si debía optar por la versión mas sencilla de plástico. En mi caso creo que elegí la versión correcta. Se nota un producto fuerte y resistente, ademas de que es fácil de mover en el patio o en el jardín. Incluye su sistema de fijación en caso de que se requiera que se mantenga en un punto fijo. De cualquier modo se vuelve una compra-inversión acertada.

Poor quality fittings and assembly

It looks heavy duty but I’ve had problems that may mean I just have I replace it now that the warrant is up. The brass threaded fittings are a bit small and stripped the treads on 2 of my hoses. Also some of the rubber gaskets had been put in not flat so I had to replace them. Not sure what to do with this since I can’t thread a hose onto it. Otherwise it would be a nice simple hose system.

Très mauvais design

Tous les composants de ce devidoir sont assemblés de manière à rouiller et à frotter. Il manque un angle de 90° pour connecter le boyau d'arrosage, il est donc perpendiculaire à la bobine. La vis de fixation du levier de rembobinage accroche au cadre, un autre endroit où elle rouillera prématurément. J'ai dû le plier pour corriger le problème. Ce même levier est trop court et rend difficile le rembobinage du boyau d'arrosage. Sinon, les points positifs, c'est solide, la peinture est de bonne épaisseur. Dans l'ensemble, je risque de l'envoyer à la ferraille le mois prochain. J'achète généralement de bonne qualité pour que le produit ait une longue vie utile. Je me suis trompé sur celui-ci. Le nombre d'étoile minimum autorisé par Amazon est 1, j'aurais préféré en donner aucune.

Worth the 100 bucks

Descent quality. Mounted onto a frig dolly. The front runners dont stay in but no big deal. The connection hose to your tap supplied is stiff and only 1/2" so replaced it with a 5/8" rubber heater hose and installed a small rubber heater hose cable tied to the reel to connect the hose so I didn't have a big kinked loop. Works well.
