Great all around jacket

Very good quality and a good way to have a few options with only having to take one jacket. I got it for my almost 4 year old and it is a little big but I was expecting that it should fit for a few years.

The jacket is wonderful, it is 2 in 1, it is waterproof and there is a fleece jacket that you can take off.

I love that this coat is warm without being bulky. I got this for my son. I'd estimate that a size Large is about a size 12 boy's. My only complaint is that there is not a clear sizing chart for this coat/jacket either here or on the company's website. This make picking the right size difficult since a size large child's isn't the same brand to brand. There is also no measurement chart which would also be very useful. The coat itself is well made. I love that it's three-in-one. You have essentially a winter coat that is warm yet not bulky, a fleece jacket, and a rain coat. The pieces are easy to take apart. My son likes that the hood can be rolled up into the collar. The hood has a bill on the front to help shield the face from rain or snow. The hood is a tighter fitting hood and not loose. There is no drawstring to tighten it. The outer/rain jacket has 2 zippered pockets that are angled for putting hands into. They are roomy enough for gloves. There is mesh on the inside and a tag for putting the child's name on it. The cuffs are elastic. The zipper can be zipped up to the neck/chin and has zelcro closures at the top. The fleece part is very soft. It zips into the outer coat. The cuffs, button into place. It's sleeves are a little smaller than the outer jacket. Overall, the quality is excellent. It's a jacket/coat that will last until outgrown.

True waterproof jacket, versatile 3-in-1 design

Received the small size, which is just a little too big for a 4-year old. Will be perfect when he turns 5! Build quality is excellent. Material is very comfortable. Waterproof shell is perfect here in the northeast where we get plenty of rain and snow. Put the shell under the faucet for testing, and water runs right off. Definitely a must have. So convenient also for traveling into rainy weather! 3 in 1 design is versatile - pack one jacket for all weather conditions: chilly, windy, cold, and wet. The designers put some thought into the design of this jacket. For example, there are overlapping materials covering the zippers to avoid irritating the chin when zipped up fully. Zippers come with a small tab (cloth) attached to make it easier to grip when using gloves. No tiny zipper covers that usually end up caught in the zippers, resulting in stuck zippers (not fun to deal with in freezing weather). Zipper pockets to avoid losing things in the snow that can't be found until the snow melts. However, some improvements that could be made to the jacket (which is why it did not get 5 stars) are: 1. Velcro for the sleeves instead of elastic cuffs - great for cold weather 2. Ripcord to tighten bottom of jacket - again, great for cold weather 3. Reflective material (front and back) - important safety feature for walking outside

Excellent jacket

This is a really well made jacket with lots of nice features. I actually got this for myself since the boys XL is about the same as a woman's extra small and I have always really liked Marmot. The fleece jacket is very soft . The sleeves are held in place by a button enclosure in the wrist and a very easy to use zipper. The outer shell is nicely wind and water resistant. I tested this out on a recent vacation in Atlanta where it rained and misted all day. This kept me completely dry and toasty. My only complaint is that the rain hood is a little small and could use about a half inch to an inch more fabric. The hood was a tad tight and kept covering my eyes although the rest of the jacket was a good fit. This is a solid and well made jacket. The fabric quality is excellent and the seaming is enforced and should hold up to a lot of boy abuse.

Nice, warm but intended use is unclear.

Warm jacket, good fit and a quality item however it’s all over the place in terms of intended use. The shell is not waterproof at all despite Marmot’s description. 10 mins into a drizzle and you’re starting to get wet. As a wind breaker it’s OK but missing basic features. The fleece lining is nice and warm and as a 3 for 1 gives you options. All in all a solid product for youth and kids but only when on sale but I have a feeling Marmot discontinued this jacket. 3.5 stars in my books. Not a bad jacket at all but nothing special but it does keep your kiddos warm.
