Easy to handle large volume Dutch oven
I received my Merten & Storck German Enameled Iron, Round 5.3QT Dutch Oven Pot with Lid, Cobalt Blue as a gift. It is not only a beautiful kitchen tool, but very functional. I love how it browns foods but cleans up with little fuss. Typical cast iron dutch ovens are hard to handle due to their weight. A smaller traditional Dutch oven I have weighs almost as much as this 5.3 qt. The Merten & Storck German Enameled Iron round oven pot with lid is made with a lighter weight iron that is coated with a non-stick enamel both inside and outside the pot. It heats quickly and cooks up food like a charm. The 5.3 qt is a perfect size, large enough to make good size portions, but not too large. I enjoy my cooking experience much more with this pot than any other I have used over the years. Highly recommended!

A Great Pot at a Great Price
I bought this Dutch Oven because I needed a smaller alternative to my 7 quart pot, and the price was right. It's great! It's the perfect size when I'm cooking for two. I have used it for baking bread as well, and it cooks beautifully on stovetop or oven. It cleans easily, which is another plus. I have come to appreciate the lighter weight, especially when removing it from the oven. I can't say enough about this product! It's well made, and lives up to its promises. I always look forward to using it.

PERFECTION ITSELF!
This is "enamel over iron" . . . and it is perfection. All the benefits of cast iron, without the weight. This one has some heft and gives the pot stability --- as opposed to "enamel over aluminum" which is to light and fly-away. The color is perfect, the heat distribution is perfect, the clean up is a breeze. I hunted for a long time to find this configuration, and so happy I did. This is a keeper folks, buy it!

Dutch Oven Cooking at its Best
This is a well-finished Dutch Oven. It is a bit lighter weight than the French cast iron Dutch Ovens. This Merten & Storck is made in Germany, according to the label in the enamel on the bottom. Most of the lower-priced Dutch Ovens are now Made in China, which I will not say is good or bad - as a buyer, you decide. Cleaning hint: before adding ingredients, spray some Pam spray oil in the interior. Then add a thin layer of olive oil. Then add vegetables, a chicken, spices, and sauces. After cooking, clean immediately is warm water and detergent. Summary: highly recommended!

Great Dutch Oven!
This is a great pot for everyday use. It’s lightweight but durable. Cooks evenly, heats up very quickly. I don’t know how I got along without it!

WOW!
Used the first day received it and was very impressed. Perfect weight to the lid and the pot isn't heavy! The lid stays inplace and doesn't let moisture out, from what I can tell. Cleaning, super easy, let it soak a little and wiped out with a wash rag. I use wooden utensils and don't tap the rim to get the food off the utensils. So, no chipping or scratches.

Excellent quality.
While it is not one of my daily use pieces of cookware, so far it has held up to various stews, soups, pastas, and being used to bake bread a few times. I am happy that when things do stick to the enameled surface, a quick boil with water and baking soda takes off the residue. No stains or warping/chipping yet to report. I was a bit concerned with the cast iron rim being a point where rust could infiltrate and get under the enamel, but I've oiled it a few times and by keeping the oven clean, it still looks brand new. The color is vibrant and lovely as well. :) But overall, why I first went with this over cheaper ovens is the appeal of getting a European brand with EU quality without paying for, say, a certain French brand which doesn't even review well as of late. I'm thinking about buying a second and would highly recommend this brand.

I love my enameled iron pot. The colour is beautiful and understated, and it weighs so much less than my Le Creuset. I love it!!

Sehr hochwertiges Produkt, Erwartungen erfüllt!
Haben uns für diesen emaillierten Dutch Oven aufgrund der guten Kindheitserfahrungen bei den Eltern und Großeltern entschieden. Lieferung durch Amazon superschnell ( Sa bestellt, Mo geliefert) auch ohne Prime... Der Topf war sehr sicher verpackt in einem stylischem Karton und in einem tadellosen Zustand. Optik: der tiefblau (petrol) Topf wirkt sehr dezent, dabei aber sehr edel, was durch den leichten Farbverlauf verstärkt wird. Die Form erinnert an massive Gusstöpfe. Der elegante Deckelknopf, mit eingepresstem Hersteller-Logo, passt sich dem an. Haptik: der recht große Topf ( 5 Liter) hat durch die eingesetzte Materialstärke schon ein entsprechendes Gewicht, wirkt aber keinesfalls unhandlich. Griffe sind abgerundet und gut proportioniert. Nutzung: auf dem Induktionsfeld zunächst als Kochtopf genutzt. Im Vergleich zum bisherigen Edelstahltopf, kochte das Wasser deutlich schneller. Auch beim anbraten( mit etwas Pflanzenöl) überzeugte das gleichmäßige Ergebnis, die Emaille verhindert das festbrennen des Bratensatzes. Durch das dickwandige Grundmaterial wurde die Wärme lange gespeichert. Reinigung: Topf und Deckel können leicht und gründlich mit einem Schwamm gereinigt werden, keine Rückstände im Bereich der Griff und des Knopfes, da alles sehr gut zugänglich ist. Auch am hellen Topfboden bleibt nichts zurück. Wir sind sehr zufrieden mit dem Produkt. Es wird nicht der letzte emaillierte Topf sein den wir uns kaufen.

Rostet deutlich früher als nach 25 Jahren...
Den Topf habe ich Anfang Januar 2021 gekauft und mehrmals genutzt. Insgesamt ca. 10-12 Einsätze. Die Emaillie blättert bereits ab und es sind Roststellen zu erkennen. Metallbesteck ist hier zwar erlaubt, habe ich jedoch nicht genutzt. Austausch des Topfes über amzn kein Problem und es muss sich erst herausstellen ob der neue Topf besser ist und die Emaillie länger hält.

Lovely but limited
It is beautiful to look at and the light weight is pleasant to work with. I found the product to be great in the oven as it is so well made but as the base is thin it is not good for long cooking on the stovetop and it is easy to burn things like stews or curry that take a while to cook. This does not happen with my much thicker Staub casserole pan. It is lovely, well made and good value but just use it in the oven.
