Cute Coding Critter

This little Narwhal had a cute story and simple puzzle to follow (with multiple ways to put together) It was too simple for my older kids so they grabbed a black marker a drew their own lines to see if the bot would follow. The younger kids would've played longer if I let them. Best for ages 3-6 with only 1 to 3 kids at a time.

Fun learning toy

My 4 year old enjoys playing with this toy and I'm happy that she's learning while playing. I would recommend this to other parents for their children.

Easy for anyone

It was really easy for my 5 yr old to setup and use. She enjoyed changing the track configuration several times.

Great for my 4 year old nephew. We will see how long it last. His one complaint is the narwhale horn is in the wrong spot.

Not worth it

Narwhal doesn’t stay on path. Pieces don’t line up well so not sure if that is why he goes off course but very frustrating to a little one when it keeps happening

Great fun

Lovely toy to start teaching coding with. My daughter loves it!

Infant toy with little educational value.

Dipper the Narwhal is at the is the luxury end of the coding critter range. If this Narwhal is not to you taste the other two Go-pets, Scramble the Fox and Dash the Chameleon do exactly the same thing. Go-pets perform just one function. They will slowly move ahead along a line drawn in front of them. The booklet included has a number of route designs that can be made using the tiles in the set. What makes the set much more interesting is the potential to draw out your own routes, so that in can interact with other toys and scenery. Our 4 year old has enjoyed playing this set, but not as much as with her Coding critter popper. I feel that the educational value is low, and it is nothing to do with coding in my opinion. There is some reading and following of instructions.

Pretty basic

The coding critter narwhal is a sweet little thing, very basic. Not much ‘coding’ going on, just a little track that you can put together in different ways and it travels around it - works well and there is a little book of tasks to do - 5 year old didn’t need any help to do it but got bored quite quickly - it is 4+ though so might keep a younger one entertained for longer.

Educational coding fun

Very basic but still lots of fun coding game which helps teach coding without the need for a computer. The box comes with a very colourful 12 page book which while you read you arrange the 16 tiles in order to help Dipper the Narwhal reach his goal. I love the fact that this set not only teaches about coding but encourages reading too. Anything involving a story is always a bonus for me being a large bookworm myself. My gang have had lots of fun with my eldest reading the book while showing my younger twins how to code (although they are more interested in Dippy). They all enjoy watching the motorised and interactive toy move along the black line paths and my eldest even more as he is the one leading the path for it. It is great to not only teach coding but for younger children helps learn numbers and older ones sequential thought and computational thinking! The kids can draw their own black-line paths for Dippy to follow or if they can flip over the tiles for extra black-line segments that help extend the preschool learning fun! This does contain small parts so supervision is needed with smaller children. This would also make a great gift and is great for rainy and lockdown days. Excellent value for money and highly recommend.

Really cute

The media could not be loaded. This is really quite basic but a little one would find it quite entertaining. The Narwhal is a whale equivalent of a unicorn whale and her name is Dipper. There are 12 pieces of coded jigsaw, the Narwhal and little story booklet. By following the instructions and story different tracks can be built and Dipper will follow the track. The Narwhal requires 4 button batteries, which are included. I don't know the price of replacement batteries. Nice way to learn about basic coding through play.
