Order 1 size down but great

Great but order a size down than your typical as these run big. Use the dog example they use for their sizes to get an idea. I have 3 dogs: a 25 lb Doberman/terrier (pictured), a 10 lb terrier, and a 12 lb Chihuahua. I typically order size small for my 10-12 lb dogs and a medium for my 25 lb dog. For these harnesses I ordered an extra small for my 10-12 lb dogs and a small for my 25 lb dog. There is a lot of adjusting to do to fit the harness to your dog but not difficult. It comes with an easy to read guide with tips on proper fitting. This feels like a great quality harness as well. Not super cushion but has some padding on some areas such as the parts underneath the armpits. Front part of the harness is great if your dog tends to pull forward. But if your dog likes to drag their feet and your the one doing the pulling, using the front part of the harness makes the whole harness want to bunch up forward. So I suggest to use the back clip.

Corgi approved!

I got two of these harnesses for my corgis. We’ve been working hard on loose leash walking and I thought these harnesses would help. Not gonna lie, it was tough work to get the fit exactly right but I was impressed with how many points of adjustment these have. The fit couldn’t be more custom. I also noticed an immediate improvement when I walked the dogs and clipped their leashes to the front clip. The dogs pulled significantly less than they usually do. Excited to see how they continue to improve with additional training!

Sizing is a little challenging

My dog is too big for a small and almost to small for a medium. Adjusting it to her fit her took some time. It still slides around more than I want on her while walking. I can adjust it a little bit more but I still think it will be loose in the chest area. Still it is sturdier than cheaper one and is lightweight enough I'm not worried about her overheating.

My favorite harness

My puppy is very picky about harnesses so we’ve tried a BUNCH of them. This is by far my favorite - it’s so sturdy and putting on is so much smoother than over the head ones. It seems to be comfortable and it doesn’t rub against her armpits like step-in harnesses always do. I wish more harnesses had the neck clip like this one as a harness going over her head freaks her out. I would love if this came in more colors like a nice green, but the blue color is cute. My dog doesn’t try to chew harnesses so I can’t speak to how chew-proof it is, but it’s very sturdy for adventuring and really easy to adjust.

Discolored hardware

This is a trusted brand and the harness itself is sturdy and functional. Unfortunately after less than a year of use and the hardware is partially discolored on all 4 units I purchased for my dogs. While this doesn’t effect the usefulness of the harness it’s just aesthetically unappealing.

A quality harness that won't dage your dogs throat

I had one of these for my dog for 10 years. He passed away Dec 31, 2020. It's dirty but I would have no problem using it for years to come. Once you get the hang of putting it on, it's a breeze. The quality construction makes it a bit stiff at first but it softens over time. I'm a person always paranoid that things like leashes and harnesses will fail resulting in something horrible so I have always been very picky about what I use. I have a new dog that's about a year old. My old dogs harness was too big so I bought the same harness in a smaller size. Problem isy new dog is an escape artist. No matter how I adjusted it, he would find a way to wiggle at least one paw out of it. I stand by my recommendation but if you have an escape artist like me, I would look for something that goes over their head and clamps in 2 places around the torso. I found one from ruffwear that is perfect for someone as paranoid as I am. It's expensive! But I don't plan on buying alot of them and it's worth the peace of mind for me. If you have a calmer dog, this harness works great and should last you a long time. The important thing is to avoid things that put pressure on your dogs throat. Its more delicate than people realize and easy to injure your dog without alot of force. IMHO if you are paranoid like me, I would avoid many of the "comfort" harnesses. I ordered a few of them and the material used IS SOFT but also very easy to tear from abrasion or sharp thickets. The problem with that material again IMHO is that once those comfort harnesses get a hole or tear, it's easy to continue tearing. I know some people with comfort harnesses will go a lifetime with no issues. These are just my personal opinions. If you take nothing else away from this, please use a harness that doesn't put pressure on your dogs throat (often listed as "no choke" harnesses). My previous dog was a pekingese.and my new pup is also a pekingese which adds complexity. Many harnesses don't cater to their odd proportions. This worked fine for my previous dog once I found the right size (took a couple of tries). Watch out for cheap knock offs. You will find that critical things like materials, stitching and metal attachment rings are usually poor quality. My dogs trust me to look out for their safety. I'm not willing to risk it for a few dollars. This is a great harness and good value for money IMHO and the brand has a generally good reputation . If you're looking for an escape artist harness and recognize you will probably only need to buy 1 maybe 2 adjustable harnesses on your dogs life, then I suggest ruffwear webmaster or what I finally bought, ruffwear flagline (both avail.on Amazon). But again, THIS harness served me and my last dog for 10 years. I hope this helps others overwhelmed by choice. Hopefully my wordy review proves it's a real review because scammers wouldn't take the time to write this ????????.

Easy & effective

I love these harnesses and use them on my 3 pittie-mixes. They are easy to get on/off, and the front attachment is ideal for attaching to a martingale collar & the leash. No pups getting away on my watch!

PetSafe customer service is a dream!

I haven’t had a chance to use it yet but their customer service earned the 5 star rating. I ordered what I thought would be the right size per measurements but it was huge! The package says to call customer service if you have any issues. They were lovely and caring about both my dog and me. They have a right size guarantee so they are sending out the next size down, free of charge and no return. All they asked was that I consider donating the other or passing it along to someone else. How great is that? I’ll update when I get the new harness but if you’re worried about if you’re ordering the right size, don’t be. You can’t go wrong here.

Good! The front clip helps to make the dog pull less

I don't believe that any harness will make your dog stop pulling. But, some harness, when they have the frontal clip, definitely help with the dog pulling less. And, that's what happened with my 18 months Golden retriever, 28 kg. I've had bad back pain episodes because she pulls all-the-time! She's happy and energetic, she doesn't want to walk, she just want to run to the park where she'll fetch the ball or play with her pals. However, this is a real challenge for my backs, and I can say that the PetSafe harness - and after hiring a trainer to teach me how to train her - have helped and improved the situation. I always use a double ended lead clipped to the front! Never to the back, because that's when dogs 'think' that they have permission to pull! I've bought size Medium. It wears snug, not tight. Although, sometimes I wonder whether it should be just a bit more tight. I think that it should allow to adjust more. That's something that PetSafe could improve. But in the end it's working, so I'm happy with it. It has a connection to strap in the car and keep the dog safe!

Effective for a puller

Ordered size M for a 50-55lb dog with a deep chest. Design has a lot of adjustment points to dial in depending on the build of your dog. I actually prefer a lot of adjustment points, as other vest-type harnesses did not allow as much custom fit, and those other vest harnesses would cause severe chafing under my dog's "armpits" as a result. The way this 3-in-1 harness is designed, the dog's "left chest strap" has more room to tighten than the "right chest strap". In addition to the two girth buckles, there is a neck/chest buckle to allow the entire device to come unbuckled, so as not to have to place the dogs head through a loop... this is why there's less adjustment on the right side of the chest strap. The middle strap connecting chest strap to girth/belly strap also tightens "front to back" so this gives an extra adjustment to make the harness quite secure. Once the girth strap is tightened I found the neck/chest straps quickly reached the limit for tightening up, so there is more slack in that area than I would have preferred. Overall, I found the overall security and design of the front-clip very effective for turning my entire dog around when she wanted to pull ahead. I'm going to try next, connecting two leashes or a coupler to both front and back loops, for greater security during training as this rescue dog has a tendency to lunge suddenly at certain people without warning. So minus one star for limitations on the chest adjustment, but I would fully endorse this design as it has worked well for managing the pulling behaviour.

My dog tolerates this harness much better than anything else I have tried. Easily washable and dry by morning. Great piece of kit. Made dog walking a lot easier.

Quality Product

Our cocker spaniel developed an aversion to harnesses going over her head. I was searching for a harness where the neck portion clipped around her neck and around her chest - which this does. It can be a bit confusing at first to figure out what straps go where, so I put nail polish on 2 clips. When she is receptive I don’t want to be fumbling. It is easy to use once you figure it out. I’m very impressed with the quality and sturdiness of the harness. We use the front ring when we need our 18 month old enthusiast puppy to walk calmly and the ring on the back for walks when she can romp more freely. The versatility was a real bonus! Our cocker spaniel is 24 pounds and the small size fits very generously. We have the straps adjusted to almost the smallest size and we can easily slip 2 fingers beneath it - as described. She has room to keep growing.
