this is the finest mens winter hat being made right now, i love it.

Not as they once were

I’ve been buying this exact hat for years, have about 10 of them for the family. The current purchase the wool material is much much thinner and the length of the cap was very short. This one looked like a skull cap and wouldn’t cover the ears. One was smalller than the other, so that one was sent back.

Pricey but “ great” quality

Great beanie, prior to getting this beanie I routinely put two beanies on my “ bald” head to walk the dog. I live along Lake Erie. Cold Canadian winds off the lake can be brutal. The extra lining over the ears works great. Despite some of the comments I find the cap soft , not scratchy. Pricey , but great quality.

Great wool. Pistil should lose the PET fleece lining. Just bounces the sweat back to your head. Terrible idea. The wool is not itchy at all. Deciding whether to return. Couple days later update: Definitely a return. PET sweatband liners a real mistake. For me anyway. Maybe good for a light stroll in the park. But not gonna spend $40 for that! 2/2/22, decided to keep it. Bought different boiled wool beanie for extreme weather. GUESS IT IS WORTH 40 beans.

Natural boiled wool cannot be improved upon, and we know it.

i like polarfleece and its derivatives. i was selling it in a pack shop in the 70's. Light, non-absorbent, quick-drying, warm. Yet, nothing is as warm as boiled wool. For certain outdoors activities where you have no backup, perhaps fleece is the bombproof choice. For the civilized world, this is better. Though expensive. Don't lose it. Enjoy.
