Very Portable

I had to go to a junk yard to take the new tires off my wife's totaled car. Took the jack, this tool and the socket for the lug nuts. In 20 minutes I had all four tires removed and replacements put back on. Wife is okay.

Powerful tool!

This tool is so powerful, it loosens the screws in the battery. I have wrapped duct tape around the base of the batteries to keep from losing them, and tighten screws when I notice the battery case is loose. I purchased it for changing tires on my race car. The impact actually damages the lug nuts and wheel, so I use it to remove nuts and lightly tighten, then finish with lug wrench.

Solid quality and long lasting charge.

I used it to remove and install wheels on several cars. Its still holding its original charge with no obvious decline in torque. Very happy with all of my Porter Cable power tools (I also have the 1/4" impact and the multi tool)

It works.

Not as strong as an air gun, but so long as you bring a breaker bar along to break them loose, it works great for bolts that are rusted enough where a ratchet or wrench would be a drag. Definitely more of a convenience/portability compromise to an air compressor than a do it all impact.

Decent Impact

Most of the tools I own are Milwaukee. At one time Porter Cable was a great company so I thought why not give them a try. I gave it only 4 stars because.. 1. Value - the impact is variable speed but you cannot adjust torque. 2. No battery life indicator on the battery. I am use to having an indicator to tell how much battery life is left in the current charge. So it's guessing time when you go to use it. If I plan to use it for a larger project then I charge the battery the night before. 3. No dock for the battery. The charger attaches to the battery. Kind of DIY in my opinion. 4. Sockets are difficult to put on. I hope it loosens up over time. So it's more like a 3.5 star for these reasons. How does it work? Works great. Not a Milwaukee but it was cheaper. Since I use it for repair for personal vehicles and in restorations, I don't use it that often. So this is the same reason that I would also look at Harbor Freight as an alternative when I need a tool but won't be using it on a regular basis. In my case the Porter Cable was a step up and overall I am happy and a little disappointed. I could have spent much more on Milwaukee, been happier but perhaps spent more than I should have - this again this was a decent alternative.

3 years later

I've had this tool for 3 years now and it is still going strong. I recently used it to remove and press in a wheel bearing which takes a lot of torque to do so. I don't have a shop press so I was using a wheel bearing removal/install kit. It performed flawlessly.

Great impact driver

The size and weight could be a problem, working in smaller places, but the battery life is beyond anything i could have imagined, i have an old 2000 Grande Vitara that has sit for two years, i had several lug nuts that were severely over tightened, it took just a minute to spin these off , i did however , reverse then forward the impact a couple times ,before they spun out, be sure you use a good impact socket, or you may split the socket.
