Very helpful tool for immediate cleaning of brushes. I would be interested in one with tighter tines to get some of the more caked-on paint that seems to accumulate.

I think it's worth the money

I've been using Prudy brushes exclusively recently simply because they last almost forever, I clean my brushes immediately when completing a period of work, or sometimes even if I'm taking more than a few minutes break. I use a hose and fan the bristles out to get it clean way inside, but this comb makes that faster and easier and so far I have no serious buildup inside the brush like I used to. I like the tool and though I've never bought one made by anyone else, I think it's worth the price. I don't use my good Purdys for primer, but I have some older Purdys I use for it sometimes... simply because primer dries so fast that it's hard to deep clean the brush, even if you haven't taken a long break. With primer, if I want to take a rest for 20 minutes or more, I drop the brush into water and then fling it dry and wipe on a rag, then back to work. Another solution would be to use a cheap brush and buy a dozen at a time, and I've actually done that before, but the Purdy brush is just such a dream to use, now I just take good care of them and I stay happy.

May draw blood.

I was looking for a brush comb to detail acrylic paint brushes. This comb looked like it was originally designed for larger paint brushes but I would try it and see how well it worked. I was not disappointed! The bristles of the comb are extremely sharp/pokey (will draw blood if you aren’t careful) but work well to break up the paint in the bristles that I had been softening in a brush cleaner and restorer solution. The restorer solution did take off the nice finish of the comb but that didn’t hinder the effectiveness of it. I also did have to use a dish brush on the bristles a couple times to get stuck gunk off but it was easy enough to do and again didn’t hinder the comb’s effectiveness. I have already recommended it to a friend.

Nice tool for cleaning paintbrushes.

I had never used a brush comb before this purchase. I found it to be very useful in cleaning brushes. It is especially useful getting paint from the upper part of the brush. One of the tines came out on the second or third use. But other than that this is a nice tool to help the brush cleaning process. The price is right.

Great for combing the locs of a quality paint brush

This is a relatively simple tool that will help extend the life of a paint brush and ease the cleaning process. The main reason for this product is to really get in between the bristles/filaments of a paintbrush and remove paint that your fingers can't. It prevents paint from binding near the metal band (heel hardening). I use this on my valued Purdy brushes like other Purdy products it is a step above the rest. This brush comb features 21 teeth most have 17 or 18 therefore it is worth the extra money. The advantage is when cleaning narrower brushes you still have enough teeth to get them clean. I use the comb while cleaning after rinsing the brush with water to get a lot of the stuck paint out then again after I am done cleaning it with detergent solution for latex paints or solvent when using oil based paints to ensure the bristles/filaments are straight prior to storing the brush.

breaks after one use

I never write reviews but this product literally didnt even last one use. The teeth started falling out halfway through cleaning my brush and by the time I was done the comb had lost half its teeth. Wouldn't buy this again if it was a dollar.

Terrible quality - 5 pins have already fallen out, and I'm sure more won't be far behind. Potentially dangerous!

In a bid to try and maintain some of my brushes a little better, I thought I would invest in one of these. Like several other reviewers, I too seem to have suffered from a poor quality item. Upon removing the comb from its packaging, 1 pin fell out on to the floor immediately, and another 3 were clearly very loose. From using this for all of about 10 seconds to comb through a brush, I now have a total of 5 pins that have fallen out. Not only is this annoying, but also potentially dangerous. If I had not seen the pin fall, my fiancée or myself may have trodden on this (and as has been mentioned, these things are *SHARP*). We also have a small dog, who could easily have swallowed this (and I imagine the same would be true of a child). I don't want to be too "doom and gloom" over what is effectively just a brush comb, but the item I received was certainly not fit for purpose. Since buying, I have bought the Hamilton comb, which was cheaper, and hasn't fallen apart immediately.

Great Cleaner

My husband uses this tool when he paints. He always states that this tool helps with cleaning his paint brushes and ensures they last years. Bought as Christmas stocking stuffers for my sons who recently bought homes.

Brilliant for cleaning brushes and every brush should be cleaned out using this method to prolong its useful life. Especially if you are using Purdy or Picasso gear. The actual quality of this comb is utter rubbish compounded further with it being from a decent make. Mine lasted about 10 brush cleans before the teeth started to fall out & having used combs that were a lot cheaper in the past I was hoping for one that lasted a bit longer considering it cost twice the price of value combs. I was just about to throw it out as I was cleaning out the decorating container and spotted it at the bottom & thought it was already gone. So works great until the teeth fall out.....down your plughole!!
