Would have gladly given a 5 stars

Amazing shoes, light weight, but sturdy as heck. I hike for miles and miles and it's like walking on air. However..., 1 star gets knocked off because the shoe laces are at least 1.5 ft too long. Double knotting still lead to lace dragging on ground when wearing the shoes. I ended up having to purchase my own shoe laces. A stupid and unnecessary miss on Salomon's part.

Awesome hiking boots

Excellent boots for the money. Very lightweight with great support, and the fact that they look awesome is a bonus!

Excellent hiking shoes

I purchased these shoes a month ago for a trip to Iceland. I knew that I needed water proof, durable hiking boots. I tried so many other brands before I found. I was totally hopeless when I received this pair, but I am so glad I kept them. I have worn these boots in the most extreme weather conditions (pouring, relentless rain, muddy ground, major hills and rivers), and I can confidently say that this is the best boot money can buy. It has surpassed my expectations. My friend, who bought a $250 pair of boots, was so jealous as his got wet making him cold and unhappy. I usually wear a 7 1/2 hiking boots but these ran big so I ordered my regular size 7, and they are still roomier than expected. Overall, I give the Vaya boots an A+

Good mid-height boots

Not a lot of ankle support with these but they are nice lightweight hiking boots. My wife went with the Salomon Outwards instead and thinks they are much sturdier.

My only Salomon disappointment

Have worn Salomon running shoes and boots for years. I enjoy their support, comfort and utility. Had high hopes for these - but was disappointed. There is zero arch support. The footbed seems to be very wide and flat- so I had to pull the laces very tight and bringing the gusset together so the boots look pinched and weird. Wore them on a short hike and found my feet sliding around inside - so I had to keep pulling the laces tighter and tighter. I’ll see if I can try them with other insoles- maybe will help to keep my feet from sliding around. The traction was okay for these- the sole seemed to have enough grip. The laces are extremely long- I’ll try to shorten them up- otherwise you’ll have to tuck them into the tongue to keep them from flopping around. For the amount of money spent - I wouldn’t recommend.

Another great pair of Salomons!

My fourth pair of Salomons but first high top. I do a lot of outdoor walking, in all weather. For the cold wet seasons I wanted something lighter than my Artic Mudd boots, but much more support than my Mudd Chore boots (with 3 inserts!). Have other Solomons for dry spring summer walking. My feet stay warm, dry and supported. I need a large toe box as well as arch support. Usually wear an 8.5 and I do agree that these seem to run larger than my other Solomons and I kinda wished I sized down, but love them none the less! Not sure if they would keep my feet warm in below zero temps, but that's when the Artic Mudd boots shine. :)

Fiel a la talla!!

Compré media talla más pequeña porque vi varios comentarios que decían que venían más grandes pero en mi caso no funcionó. Las botas si son un poco más largas que lo que uno esperaría con la talla, pero tienen una horma angosta, por lo que recomiendo que pidan la talla que ustedes son. Son cómodas y super livianas, tuve que devolverlas por talla pero volví a pedir estas mismas en media talla más grande.

Definitely get a half size smaller

Just got them today and was worried about ordering an 8 instead of my usual 8.5. I ordered the 8 based on other buyer’s comments and they were totally correct! There’s actually toe wiggle room a half size smaller. Think that they may have over compensated on design/size thinking that feet swell when hiking (which is a valid concern). But these are super comfortable so far on a size 8 and fit like an 8.5. And actually another friend of mine who is an 8.5 usually tried them and said they fit great! Looking forward to hiking now!!

Great, lightweight, no breaking in required

I purchased these (wife of this account) and they required 0 breaking in. I wore them for 2 hours for my first walk in them, not a single bit of discomfort. Very comfortable, roomy, lightweight. This is my third pair of Salomon shoes or boots, and I've loved all 3 pairs - never a single blister, and I do week long multi day hikes. Love this company for hiking footwear :)

Style bulky at ankles

Find these are slightly bulky (lots of fluff/padding) at the ankles, but not in a way that adds additional support. Would actually recommend going for a trail runner over these because the added ankle support is so minimal.

Never fails

Salomon never disappoints with their products. I do a lot of winter hiking and these boots really make a difference and does the job well. Durable, comfortable and warm and gives you good traction

Great boot! Love the solomon product. It stands up to wear and tear!

I ordered the higher boot for walking in the winter forest paths. Loved the colour. The fit is true to size but I had another lighter version that I just copied the size from. I sometimes where at 9 1/2 so I made sure to look at the size on my other boot and it was a 9 so fingers crossed ordered the 9. Perfect. I think the product will stand up to the same conditions as my former boot. Love them.
