San Diago hat

I have melasma on my face so like to wear a hat when outside. Most hats still let some light through but these ribbon hats do not. This is my second one. I have had my other one for several years. It is a little faded but still in great condition. Packs well if traveling, just roll it up.

Truly great hat

Have worn this hat every day for 6 years and it’s as good as it always has been. A little dirty and dusty but as sturdy and functional as ever. Was surprised to see the purchase date. It’s held up really, really well. Going to purchase another one to have on-hand, as it’s a favorite hat and protects the face from the sun really well. Do be careful with any low doorways or anything low-hanging because the brim of the hat is quite low and keeps your vision downward and it’s easy to bump your head without seeing it coming first.

BEST. HAT. EVER!

I had this same hat a few years ago and impulsively gave it to a friend after she borrowed it to wear at the beach. I regretted that moment of generosity ever since because I couldn't find a replacement. So I was thrilled to see it this morning when my package arrived. And it's identical to the one I gave up, but with a slightly bigger brim (yay!). I'm allergic to every sunscreen known to humankind and I love being outdoors, so a good hat is essential. This one goes with everything and gives plentiful shade, better than any other hat I've owned. It's thick but breathes much better than my cotton or straw hats. It stays on nicely, even in wind. But its best feature is that it rolls up tight to fit into a backpack or tote and then springs back into shape when you take it out. I have one just like it in bright blue (doesn't go with everything) that has been a constant companion on hikes and walks for about 7 years. It still looks brand new. If you have a normal sized head and like the outdoors but also need a hat that you can wear with dressy clothes, you will love this hat.

My favorite hat

I just bought my second one of these hats. I have had the other one for years and love it. It is easy to pack and to reshape. I like that I can fold the sides down toward my face if there is a lot of sun, and it stays but does not crease or wrinkle. There is a tie on top (around the crown), which works great to keep the hat on if there is a lot of wind. This is the best sun-protection hat I have ever used, which is why I just bought another one. The old one still looks great. I can now keep one in my house and one in my vehicle. No other hats I have had compare to this one!

Unexpected fun

I ordered the navy hat and find it to be attractive. I got it for my walks to protect from the sun. I have a short neck and the back brim would push against me upper back. Fortunately, I can turn that part of the brim up a bit to solve that problem. I also turn the front part down to protect my face more. The unexpected benefit from this hat is the fun game my 19 month old grandson was playing with me. He found it near the back door, where I had left it, and put it on himself. We had a grand game of peek-a-boo. He even had me put it on and still had fun playing Where's Grandma. It was nice that I didn't have to worry about him ruining it.

A hat is a relationship

After years of wearing a nearly-identical hat from the San Diego Hat Company almost daily, I had many close calls on losing it and happily recovered it each time. Finally, I took it off and lost it for good. I have not yet formed this new one into a beloved friend yet, but we are working towards it even in the first few days. The hat is not too heavy to wear in a hot clime (I live in Phoenix, AZ), and is a great color to go with clothing of every season in the Sunbelt. I turn up the last inch to look a little more professional, but you may love it as is. I have machine-washed this hat (its predecessor, of course) in both a front-loading and a top-loading washer with good results. For a large but not huge head, it fits nicely. For a smaller head, it has a hat-band that adjusts it slightly tighter. Except when I want something red or white, I wear this hat every time I go out in the daytime. A good investment in my skin's future.

Cute, but hard to match with clothing

I preferred this hat, but ultimately returned it because of the color and pattern, it made it very hard to match with clothing. I wish they made this hat in a solid and neutral color.

I love my San Diego wide brim hat!!!

I love this hat, it's my second one!!! I still have my first one, which I have owned for about 3-4 years now and it's still in great shape! This second one is really for my daughter to stop her from stealing mine! I love the wide brim that gives ample sun protection. I also like the fact that is it packable and will retain its shape when unpacked, and you can wash it!!! The brim is flexible so you can move it lower or higher to get it out of your face. The only thing that was an issue was the one size fits all. I have a small head so I had to add a band of material to fill in the extra space so it fits snuggly on my head and will not blow off in the wind.
