this is OEM or close - there's a lotta garbage out there

I had ordered a cheaper version that didn't work "out of the box" - very crappy. this one looked almost identical to the original, though one component that used to be metal is now plastic---I suspect that's just the way things are. installed easily, works with no sign of impending issues. 4 stars because, well, it's a recoil starter for pete's sake! what IS a 5 star recoil starter?

Fits and works

Two screws removed. Old one removed. Two screws replaced. New one installed. Handle needs to be installed. It comes uninstalled in case you need to thread the cord through the handle in some way. I should have bought this earlier to replace the one that didn't work properly.

Fit perfectly on my 1996 Sears Craftsman edger. Just note that the handle needed to be drilled out so the string can be threaded.

broke within 1 year

I bought the TECUMSEH branded recoil starter at great expense and it broke within a year. A similar fashion to the cheaper OEMs. Clearly my machine is harsh on these starter but I expected better.

They never gave me the logo and when i contacted them i got a random auto reply and weeks later nothing.

I got an item with no logo for 50 bucks. Haha this is why Tecumseh is on my never buy list. stick to a reputable brand.
