The Best Mobile!

I’m not super into electronic toys for babies. My style leans to simple wooden Montessori or Waldorf toys. But my son LOVED this mobile has a baby and it wasn’t a fluke because my 4 month old daughter is also obsessed with it and has been for the last two months. I write this as she gagas and googoos away in her bassinet to which the mobile is attached. It gives me anywhere from 15-30 minutes to get some things done including brushing teeth and getting dressed or some laundry. As soon as she sees it before I even turn it on, she gets so excited, it’s adorable. It makes her smile and she now kicks the large button to change the music. Something about the way the little characters do their dance and peek a boo. The music sounds good too, not intrusive, and there’s a volume button which is essential IMO. Then when baby is older, they can carry the music box around, which I’m expecting her to do like my son did. Totally recommend this! I just got their mobile that you can attach to car seat. Excited to try it because she is not a fan of car rides quite yet.

Great Music Choices, Loud Motor and Clicking

I wish I had listened to the negative reviews. We had the opportunity to try the original Blue version of this mobile from Tiny Love, and I loved it. Since it seems to have been discontinued, I decided to try the Meadow Days version. Our crib has wide edges, so many standard mobiles don’t fit. The “screw on through the slats” option of this mobile allowed us to have a mobile that safely attaches to the crib. My husband found it easy to assemble the mobile when it arrived. The music is the best mobile/children’s toy music selection I’ve heard yet: not grating to listen to, doesn’t sound like crazed carnival music, and offers a great variety so you aren’t reusing the same three songs over and over again. We also love the white noise option as that’s what we use to lull the baby to sleep on most nights. However. The reviews mentioning the clicking sound and motor sound are 100% accurate. The original Blue version mobile I tried had one figure that clicked rather softly, but the other two were silent. Therefore, I figured that it wouldn’t be overly noticeable, even if they all clicked. I was wrong. On this version, all three figures click— loudly. Though I can’t tell if the baby minds, it comes through clearly on the baby monitor, which makes it difficult for me to sleep if we use it at night. I will try the yarn trick, but I’m surprised Tiny Love isn’t addressing the issue given how many people complain about it. After a few days, I also noticed that the motor is ridiculously loud and audible over the sounds playing (and, unless we have the monitor turned down, audible over the monitor, too). For such an expensive mobile, I would have expected better quality. The last unfortunate change to this mobile from the original is the removal of the light from the mobile stem. Although the light remains on the shuffle button on the music box, the one that used to help backlight the figures so you could see them in the dark has been eliminated. Pro: maybe the batteries will last longer, Con: it’s hard to see the figures in a dark room even with the nightlight on. Had I not tried the original first, though, I wouldn’t have known to miss that feature, so it’s a minimal concern for those going straight to the Meadow Days model. Since I like and will use the music box beyond the life of the mobile, and since it keeps the baby occupied and lulls him to sleep as mobiles are meant to do, I will give the mobile 3 stars, but I’m disappointed. Update: Increased to 4 stars. The clicking sound softened over time to be only periodically from the heaviest of the figures. My son is big enough now to reach and yank on the animals, so we had to remove them, but he now likes to play with the buttons on the music box, so the versatility continues (just not as a sleep aid!).

Was very skeptical this would meet most of my needs...

This was for baby #2 so I knew exactly what I wanted in a mobile. I was very skeptical this would meet my needs but it does! Here's a list of what I was looking for and how this mobile fits the bill. 1. Must be automatic!! - With my first child, I used the one where you have to manually wind the mobile every few mins and it was a pain in the butt! I saved all my baby stuff so I could reuse it for baby#2, but the manual mobile went straight into the trash! 2. Must be cute and not too girly looking. - I bought the blue one for my daughter and it's very cute and not to "boyish" for a girl. 3. Must have bright colors - In order for you baby to be intrigued with a mobile/toy when they are a newborn, it must have bright colors. 4. Must be easily removable - The reason why this is a must is because I don't want my baby to be overstimulated. Overstimulation makes it hard for my daughter to fall asleep because she's too wired and her brain has a hard time shutting down. When she starts to yawn or look away after 30 to 40 mins of playing, I simply remove the pole out of the music box. It's very easy to remove or reattach. It's great that I don't have to remove the whole unit. 5. Must have multiple options for sound and nightlight combination- This mobile does almost every combination you can think of. You can turn on night light, sound and rotate animals at the same time. You can turn off night light and just have sound and rotating animals. You can have nightlight and rotating animals on with no sound by just lowering the volume until it becomes mute. You can have just sound by removing the pole from the music box. 6. Must stay on for at least 20 mins - I am thrilled this stays on for 40 mins. I haven't seen any other mobile that stays on longer. 7. Must entertain my baby - My daughter is 2 months and it entertains her for at least 30 mins! There aren't many toys that entertain her at this age but this one does! There has been many times where she play for 40 mins and then passes out! 8. Must be versatile - This is my 2nd and last baby (I think) so I hate the thought of buying baby stuff that can only be used for a few months. Since this can be used as a music box for a toddler, I was sold. Not sure if it's going to really be useful but hey it's better than nothing! 9.Must fit on my crib! - My crib has thicker slats and I have found it hard to attach toys to it. I have no issues with this mobile. Fits like a glove and it's very secure. There are 2 things I thought I wanted in a mobile but after using this I realized I don't need it. 1. Since babies like toys that light up, I thought it would be a good idea to have a mobile where the animals light up. I realized during the day that function is useless and at night I want my baby to sleep not play! 2. I wanted a remote control but since this mobile stays on for 40 mins, I don't need it. I thought not having one would be inconvenient but it's not bad at all. If you're debating between this one or the popular Fisher Price one like I did, I say go for this one! It's cheaper, cuter, plays music longer and it grows with your child! You won't regret it! P.S. - Only the giraffe on mine makes a clicking sound. I am not docking a star for this because the clicking is not a loud annoying click. It's a soft click so it doesn't bother me or the baby. Maybe if all 3 did it, it would be annoying. Update 10/9/13 - I still love this mobile, but I wish it had a timer for 20, 30 or 40 mins. Sometimes 40 mins is just too long and I have to go into the room to turn it off manually.

GREAT for music selection and time duration

This unit is great for time duration and music choices. Over an hour it will stay on and it has more than 5 categories of songs. It is lacking in any light display on ceiling and has NO REMOTE

Looks and sounds fab!!

LOVE this mobile!!! Had a fisher price one for my son and it took ages to assemble and then didn’t work! This one fits together simply and quickly, looks GREAT and sounds fab! Lovely quality with a few different volume settings and the music on offer is brilliant! Can’t recomend this highly enough! The company supplying it too is excellent, I had very good customer service from them and wouldn’t hesitate to buy off them again.

A great choice of the many options out there

Love this mobile. It took me ages to decide which one to get and I worried she would grow out of it before she could use it. (That was when she was still in her Moses basket). I quickly realised that as soon as she was in her cot it’s fantastic and keeps her entertained for hours especially once she’s woken up first thing in the morning. The choice of music / noise and volume control are great and you don’t have to listen to the same tune constantly! Really easy to put together and love that when shes too big for the mobile it doesn’t become redundant and can be turned into a music box for her. Definitely worth the money.

Beautiful mobile which my baby daughter loves. The music is lovely and goes on for ages so you don't have to keep running in to switch it back on. The white noise function was excellent for my newborn baby.
