Don't be such an AirHead, Buy this one!

I've had a chance to take this Kayak out 9 times this summer. Each time I felt very safe and secure. This Kayak is virtually impossible to tip even with a 9 year old son that likes to stand up in it. I was even able to sit on the edge (One side) with legs hanging in the water. Great amount of space to carry a lot of extras on the lake, the seats even have mesh pockets which is great for those things you grab for a lot (Sun tan lotion, phone, ummm maybe cigarettes for smokers). This boat is sturdy and expect a lot of looks and questions while out on the water. Every time its beached, I always get tons of compliments on how nice it looks and tons of questions from people. I swear if I had extras, I could sell them all day. Some have said it leaks air? After 9 trips, I has not lost any volume, and I have had no need to bring a pump like some have suggested (I did bring a pump the first few times, just in case). If your boat looses that much air, you have a leak somewhere. This Kayak is easy to pump up (5 Minutes) and letting the air out takes a few seconds. The more I do it, the less work it becomes to setup and take down. When on the water, it tracks as I expected. Lateral movement like most kayaks, very easy to steer, and slow... The speed has improved a bit for me, now that I tighten the front and back cover (Black Tip) and take care in inflating it and "Tucking" the bottom in tight. What I mean about tucking... If you inflate the bottom first, then as you inflate the sides, be sure you push the bottom badder under the sides and be somewhat forceful about it. When your done filling the boat, flip it over, you can tell if the bottom bladder is seated properly and uniform. If the bottom is tight and uniform this inflatable Kayak will create much less drag. At first I paid no attention to this, until after my second trip. I flipped the boat over to dry out a bit and noticed the bottom was shifted to one side and there were a few voids where the bottom "fabric" was not tight on the bottom bladder. Tucking or pushing the bottom tight into the boat after inflation seems to have corrected this and I feel it has gained some speed. I do wish the carry straps (Straps used to carry boat after folded up) had a padded shoulder strap pad. A towel helps a lot for longer hikes to the car. I will be adding one of my own. Others complained it doesn't come with a bag. I have had boats with a bag, not worth the work getting a boat in a bag, the strap system works great and takes a few seconds. Like with all inflatables, its a good idea to let them dry out fully for long term storage. So when you get home from your trip, take the time to lay it out to dry. I could go on forever, and I think I already have... This was truly a game changer for us this summer! Having your own Kayak where you may otherwise be renting was amazing and liberating :)

Great recreational kayak

I had a Coleman canoe for many years, but found myself using it less and less because of the hassle of getting it on and off my car roof rack. This inflatable does away with all that trouble. I can inflate it in about ten minutes with a manual pump and throw it on the roof of my car (it is light enough that I can do it by myself) or throw it deflated into the trunk of my car and do the pumping at the water's edge. It is much more stable laterally on the water than my old and heavy canoe. I can even jump off the kayak for a swim and make it back into the kayak with a bit of wiggling (which I also could not do with my canoe). I use it with canoe paddles, which works fine and has the added advantage that the paddles take up less space inside the kayak than regular kayak paddles would. The kayak is fairly short, but seats two regular-sized adults comfortably with a bit of space front and back for luggage. The inflatable seats are fairly comfy, comfy enough that I took a nap on the lake the other day- another thing that I found impossible in my old canoe. When it gets hot, though, the vinyl will probably get a bit sweaty and sticky under your legs. The outer skin of the kayak (it has three large air bladders) sits a bit loose on the bottom and can wrinkle up or be a bit bent out of shape. The little fin underneath was bent on arrival and requires some bending back, which I hope to achieve with some gentle heat from a hair dryer. One of the seat air bladders came with a faulty valve, I hope their customer service will replace it. The kayak is a bit on the slow side and does not track straight too well. Overall, the kayak seems great for shorter trips and fooling around on calm water or slow rivers, but is probably less suitable for long distance trips with lots of luggage.

Would be a great boat, but...

I bought it for class 1-3 rapids as I used it on the Upper New River in WV and it boat itself handled really well as per several whitewater raft guides that are on the rivers all the time. The boat took the rapids good but there are a few very annoying flaws in the boat. The boat I received was miss-stitched on the bottom so that when you blew up the boat, one side tube sat sidewise that made the boat asymmetrical and which made the floor sit crooked on the bottom. The floor actually made a bulge on the bottom of the boat making it rounded and didn't sit flat. Because of this, the boat also sat somewhat sideways in the water. The worse thing about the boat is that the boat has bladders, which isn't necessarily bad but it makes maintenance very difficult. Even if you use the boat on a regular basis, both water and sand get in between the bladder and the cover which should be dried and the sand washed out before you put the boat away other wise the grit will make holes and the water left over will mold. The boat would be a 5 star boat if there were no removable bladders and the floor was all one piece and of course sewed without flaws and puckers in the bottom. I probably would not take a chance on another one of these because of these few problems which I believe are significant.
