Really like this bird feeder

I was looking for a feeder that would discourage grackles from raiding all the food I put out and still let me feed sunflower seeds that so many of the birds seem to like and I found this one recommended on the Bird Watching HQ site. This feeder is heavy and sturdy and I can believe that people use one of these in their bird feeding station for many years - someone had one after 10+ years. The smaller birds seem to like it but it has only been out a few days and they are being cautious. I expect the crowd will gather once the grackles have moved on - they are still hopeful they will be able to dine.

Best bird feeder ever

This is an awesome birdfeeder! I live in a very rainy climate and have been trying to find something that doesn’t lead to little sprouting seeds at the bottom when the seeds get wet. The way you clean this one by pulling the bottom off is just so simple. I added a plastic dome to the top and the seed stays completely dry. Highly recommended

Love these

I love these because they are easy to clean. They have gotten a lot more expensive, like everything. They are hard to find too, but the ease of cleaning makes them worth it.

Very easy to remove base for cleaning

Love how easy it is to remove the base. I bought this to replace an old D.Y. tube feeder that was too hard to clean. Birds tried this one within 30 minutes of filling and hanging it, and after a day it became their favorite feeder (I have several). I think the feeding ports are a little low for birds the size of red-winged blackbirds although they manage. It's just right for sparrows, finches, nuthatches, chickadees and downy woodpeckers. But some birds such as cardinals and the larger woodpeckers have never shown an interest in tube feeders.

Excellent design, and build quality - UPDATED

UPDATED 8/6/2019 - After a year outside in New England, this feeder is still going strong. It has held up to the weather, squirrel assaults, and even a raccoon. I believe the raccoon did manage to get the bottom feeder ports separated from the tube (the screw head probably sheared off under the stress of supporting a raccoon), as I came home one day to find one port on the ground, the other MIA, and the feeder picked clean. I contacted Aspects, and they sent me a new port and screw/nut assembly to replace the missing ones. The feeder is back up with a new port in place, and the birds are mobbing it. This feeder is easily the birds' favourite, and Aspects is a top-notch company with great customer service. If you're looking for a durable, easy-to-clean versatile feeder from a great company, this is your feeder. Lovely feeder with a detachable base for cleaning. It's not good for deterring grackles, but the American red squirrels seem to leave it alone, as do the chipmunks. It attracts all kinds of birds, from red-bellied woodpeckers to chickadees, but that does leave it open to raiding by grackles. They can't easily fit on the perches, but they're a determined lot. I use this feeder for "everyone", and have another cage-surrounded feeder for the little birds. I have the 281 tube top clear protective weather guard on the top, and it keeps the rain out nicely. The base easily comes off the feeder for cleaning, and it appears well-made and durable. If you don't mind feeding grackles, or you are lucky enough to have none, this is a great feeder for a wide variety of birds.

Cadillac of bird feeders

Wow! This feeder is impressive. Very sturdy. The bottom opens up easily for cleaning that bottom area that is so hard to clean on tube feeders. I also ordered the optional seed tray for the doves that frequent our feeder. It attached easily with no tools.

The best one we could find for finches and sparrows, but...

Not as efficient as our other feeder, of about the same size, but we can’t find that anymore. It came from England at least 20 years ago and has a double tube arrangement, which still works. The outer tube supplies seed to the top 3 perches, and the inner tube supplies the bottom 3 perches. In this way, the tubes being the same volume, all feeding stations run out at about the same time. With the Aspects it’s a simpler design so we are finding it necessary to refill more often if the top stations are to always have seed available. Still it seems to be nice feeder considering what else is out there. Very little seed spills onto the floor below, though this could be something desirable if you have a lot of birds visiting. Its weakest feature may be the tube wall, it's quite thin, I would estimate 0.05 thick, and doesn't look like it will withstand much abuse. In the heat and dryness of the High Desert where we live plastic this fragile doesn't usually do very well. Update... We are finding that the lower ports soon get starved of seed, even after giving it a good shake these do not fill. And it’s very puzzling but for some reason, perhaps due to a restricted seed flow the birds, house finches mostly, are not attracted to this feeder much at all, but still use the English version out back. We don’t understand it but for now have resorted to an open tray out front, which unfortunately attracts pigeons, at least until a replacement tube feeder is found which works for us. A couple of the plastic sleeves on the perches themselves have been chewed off, go figure, it’s not by squirrels, but we can’t locate any replacements.

Excellent Quality Feeder and Easy to Clean

Excellent feeder. Aspects makes great feeders that you can easily remove bottom and clean. By pressing in the sides and removing bottom. Then it clicks back in. Very good quality.

very good! please note the tube is plastic, I suppose it is glass at the time of purchase, but it is fine. It is a bit small if you plan to feed a lot of bird. I feed a full load and birds finish it in less than one week.

Great feeder.

Very, very well made feeder. At first I thought it seemed somewhat small and I feared having to fill it often; however the circumference is bigger than another taller one that I have. As soon as I put this feeder up, I had chickadees and cardinals feeding from it.

Great Birdfeeder!

Aspects is a quality birdfeeder in everyway. Very easy to keep clean . The only downside is the 2 perches ( which I was aware of when I bought). If you have lots of birds, you definitely need a medium to large feeder.
