What an awesome set for your loved one

This set performs flawlessly and the details are very nice. Our little guy was absolutely thrilled by it. He loves the older looking engines and his really made him happy. Toys like this get handed down so it's never a waste. Absolutely recommended.

Engine is weak and does not operate properly

This not a good buy. I have purchased other train sets before from Bachmann. This train does not perform well. It will stop for 2-3 degree uphill angle of track. Even on the same level, train stops and you have to push it from behind. I have checked fully tracks and wheels are all aligned. I need to return this train as I've spent almost $175 on it. It is not worth it.

DON'T BUY THIS TRAIN IF YOU WANT TO UPGRADE AT *ALL*

This is a great train set if: a) you don't want to upgrade to *ANYTHING." Period. 2) if you don't want to add anything like remote switches, steam whistle sounds, or anything that requires power from a transformer, and c) if you are an adolescent or have . Actually, the only person that should buy this train is someone who has marionette puppets, collects bees, and has no friends. Wait...that's me! Not. I bought this model HO train, thinking, "a great HO train set to get me back into the hobby," Then I realized unlike 40 years ago, when I had my first train with lots of possible upgrades and transformer/throttle hookups,etc., there is no way you can add much of anything to this train except some barfy artificial trees and stupid plastic bushes. Oh, you can add a steam whistle sounds ... if you buy a wooden whistle and blow through it. Right. If you are serious about the HO model train hobby, don't buy this train set or any other "entry" train set BACHMANN sells. What a waste of my hard-earned cash. Now I have to hit the streets again and beg for more donations! :-(
