Tapered tip kept loosening and falling off.

Very nice scribe but I did have an issue with the tapered tip that screws onto the body it kept loosening up and it got to the point it were would not stay on anymore . I contacted RDC Tool and Supply that shipped me the Scribe. They were excellent in their service, very nice very helpful and after a couple emails they had me a replacement on the way. I give RDC Tool and Supply a five star for their excelent service but I can only give the Scribe a four-star for the issue that it had.

Sharp point for making clean lines

This scribe is of the quality you would expect from Brown and Sharpe. It has a nice feel to it, and the trigger for retracting the point works well. The tip is a bit loose, so if you are using this for exacting layout, adjust pressure accordingly. Overall, it works well, feels good in the hand and should last a long time.

Whoa! Precise and friendly too use

This is one sexy carbide scribe. Ultra sharp point gets those exact outlines done in no time. The fact that it is retractable improves its worth. Now I don't have to worry about putting it in my shirt and stabbing myself, or resting it on a table only to have it fall on its tip. The price made me skeptical, the quality made me a believer.

Brown & Sharpe, sleek, quality, no more stabbing myself carrying the scribe around the shop! Sweet, sweet relief! Leaves a nice line with minimal effort, quality is excellent, no complaints!

Not up to Brown and Sharpe standards in any way, apears to be a generic tool being resold under multiple names.

The product I received was not up to cheap import tool standards let alone Brown and Sharpe. The tip was crudely ground on an angle, not straight and came with debris on it already. Either the tool I received was used, reground and I was sent a return or these are just garbage. The tool has no makers mark of any kind or country of origin. It also appears to be identical to "Malco A50 USA Made Carbide Tipped Scribe" which is $17.99 with prime right now...this tool may be sold under the name "Brown and Sharpe", but I highly doubt it was manufactured by them.
