Drain hair catchers
These work great in the shower catching hair before it clogs your drain. They work for up to 3 months or so, depending on how much hair your household loses during washing. As you pull them out all the hair & yuck is attached & pulls out of drain. Replace it with a new one. Saves having to call a plumber for sure.

Works really well!
Absolutely disgusted when I pulled it up but oh, how impressive! Imagine if all of that hair had lodged in the drain? Must have for sure! Wish there were darker colors to match the drain cover or other designs to choose from. No matter. I am a fan!

Very effective at catching hair
In researching the effectiveness of devices to trap or catch hair, in an effort to prevent clogged shower drains, I settled on two products that looked promising. A few similar product ideas consisted of a small basket or strainer that was to be placed inside the drain-pipe (under the drain-cover). This idea looked like it would work rather effectively and would be easy to clean by simply dumping the hair out of the basket when the basket filled with hair. The only drawback to this style of device was that it required the use of a screwdriver to remove (and replace) the drain cover each time the basket was to be emptied. I decided to hold off on trying the basket-style devices when I saw the "DrainWig." I noted that the DrainWig doesn't require the drain cover to be removed when installing and retrieving the device for cleaning. This Installation of the DrainWig is very easy.... simply feeding the chain down into the drain, between the drain-cover grates. Retrieval of the DrainWig is also easy.... gently pulling the chain, and the accumulation of hair that has attached to it, out of the drain. The accumulated hair flattens as it is pulled out from between the grates of the drain-cover with the chain. Cleaning the hair off of the DrainWig's chain is the only issue I've had with this device. The hair attaches to the chain in a tangled "clump." It cannot simply be pulled down (and off) the length of chain due to the silicone (leaf-like) crossmembers that are attached in intervals to the chain. These silicone crossmembers are delicate and looked as if they might break if handled too much. I found that the hair had to be cut off of the chain with scissors. This was not a deal-breaker for me but was something I had not anticipated. For now, I'd rather have to use scissors to clean this device than have to get a screwdriver to remove the drain-cover each time I would need to clean the other style of device.

They are easy to use, but not seeming to grab my hair
They are easy to insert and remove from your drain. I have long hair and honestly not much was getting caught on the chain and knobs, but some was getting caught in the flower.

Super GROSSSSS!! But works as advertised
The instructions suggest replacement every 2-4 months. I waited 5 months, since I am just one person, only showering every other day, AND I brush out my hair before shower. Once you install it, you sort of forget it's there, until you see slower draining. I'm like, "oh, I need to change that thing" ... then the shock and disgust! The "glob" I pulled out was too big for the drain grate and pulled the grate out with it! This "thing" reminded me of a "shrunken head", the size of a small lemon! Since it was too big to past through the grate, I just found a pair of wire snipers and clipped the chain for release. This thing had me mortified ... all that hair eventually would have clogged my shower (it never would have made it to the water treatment center). If it wasn't so Gross, I would have taken a picture (should have). Thank you Wig family for saving me $$$ in plumbing costs!

Replacement/cleaning depends on your length of hair/how much you lose
The media could not be loaded. I have medium length hair, that hits right at my shoulders and my shower has an open drain. I have used these before and was not impressed initially but I think it’s because I had pulled the flower out after only a month and I don’t lose that much hair. Most recently, I kept this in my shower drain for about four months before pulling it out and there was so much hair caught! Depending on how much hair you lose will determine how frequently you need to pull it out and clean it. I think it definitely helps prevent hair from eventually clogging your shower drains. I’m including a few pictures of what it looks like prior to use. Hope that helps!

Amazing
I was completely amazed! I know I lose hair in the shower but this much?? I have to admit I left it much longer than recommended. I was constantly checking it when I first installed it. Not much was happening so I quit looking. I was recently getting ready to clean my shower and thought, oh I should look again! I was shocked and disgusted how much hair it got before it stuck in my drain! I will definitely buy again and check it more often before this happens!
