Bike comfort

Before adding this extension. My ride was a little uncomfortable. Now I can take longer ride and no more discomfort.

Could be unsafe

I have a "Specialized" brand of mountain bike so the spoke is a standard diameter. The upper clamp screw of this extender could not tighten properly around the spoke, because there is no groove (as in the lower screw) to allow proper contraction of the metal ears at the top. When I first mounted it, the handlebars easily moved side to side and I kept on tightening the upper screw until the screw actually broke off! I ended up modifying the extender by sawing a 1/4" groove in the metal which allowed the upper screw to tighten better around the spoke. I also added a piece of brass shim material inside to reduce the play between the extender and the spoke. Otherwise the part is good quality aluminum which is why I spent the time making it work properly.

Forgot to return

The item said it would fit most bikes. It did not. I forgot to return. :(

Adds an inch

Simple to install. Plastic washers adjust height. Watch a video before installing. It's trickier than it looks. Clamps were too large for my (standard) steering post. I had to add a spacer to get a tight fit. Kit should include rubber spacers.

Great Stem Riser - Install Carefully

Does exactly what it's supposed to do, raise the height of the handlebars. Installed with a little anti-seize compound on the threads, always a good idea with steel bolts in aluminum threads. Tighten the bottom bolt first, as the design allows more clamping, and tighten both bolts equally and little at a time. Do not over tighten or the aluminum will break. Street tires, a soft seat, and this stem riser makes my old school mountain bike a pleasure to ride again :)

Neck saver

This riser if perfect for those that don't want to be hunched over all the time. Now I ride and my neck doesn't hurt. Now my ride is much more enjoyable. You can't go wrong for the money.
