Not Individually Wrapped - 12.13.2017 CORRECTION ON AIR FLOW DIRECTION - READ EDIT
These 6 filters were all wrapped up in one package, not individually, but all 6 together in one plastic wrapped bundle. Some serious misinformation in the question and answer section above when I was told by multiple people these come individually wrapped. They all must have misunderstood the question or something. At any rate, these filters are pretty decent and if you can get a good price on them they should be purchased. The other filters they compete with Nordic Pure are pretty good ones as well if you get the 'Pure Carbon' ones not the cheaper 'Plus Carbon' ones. So basically I would buy whichever ones were cheaper at the time....but never the 'Plus Carbon' ones. I use these as a prefilter to a 5 inch pleated Merv 13 so the main thing you want in a filter like this is carbon. Get as much carbon as possible because that is the substance that removes or absorbs the odors and contaminants in the air. Not that these have anything near enough carbon to remove anything that would normally be lethal....in other words these are not poison proof, but they do remove odors fairly well....but so do the Nordic Pure 'Pure Carbon', so just do your math. One thing these filters have over Nordic Pure, if you believe the data, is the quantity of carbon in these filters over other competitor filters. It sure makes these filters out to be beasts in terms of carbon quantity but then again even though you want as much carbon as possible other filters don't report carbon quantities so not sure where competitor data comes from or if they are referring to Nordic Pure 'Pure Carbon' in the competitor group. Either way it does make these look appealing and since they do work well then if the price is right then might as well buy them. They are well made, sturdy cardboard frame, direction arrows for air flow, and a spot to write the date they were installed for replacement purposes. The pleats are even and sturdy and full of carbon. So much so that the carbon will sprinkle out a bit so be careful when handling not to shake the carbon about. Once installed the carbon is on the leading side of the filter. EDIT: 12.13.2017 -- Well it's been over a year since I reviewed these and I'm on my last filter of 6 pack and it just dawned on me that I mis-reported the air flow direction with respect the carbon side of the filter. Since the carbon is in particulate form and adhered to the filter on one side only and also falls off fairly easily I always put the carbon side of the filter on the leading air side of the air flow direction. Meaning that if any carbon particles fall off in the wind tunnel they wont get sucked through and blown into the house. Well slap me in the face I must have been blind or something or maybe since I'm an engineer it just defied all logic to have the carbon particles in the downstream side of the air flow and my brain wouldn't allow me to see the arrow direction shown on the filter side for what it was??... But sure enough the arrows on the side of the filters point in that direction...opposite of the way I've been using them. Seems very counter intuitive. Anyway, I've also been using these for over a year in the WRONG direction evidently, but with good results overall. We have two dogs and I think they have worked well. Changed them about every two months or so, maybe even three sometimes. We also have a 5 inch pleated filter that is downstream of this filter so even if some carbon were to fall off if would be caught by that filter. Damn I've let the community down with faulty info, but hopefully this correction will suffice to save face. I still think having the carbon first, in the airflow, is the better way.

Black coating on filters deteriorating
I typically have 100% confidence in 3M products, but was disappointed upon receiving and opening the box of these 3M filters. As you can see in the pictures, the black coating on the pictures appear to be deteriorating/crumbling, leaving small black debris throughout the inside of the packaging. Not sure if this is an exception. Possibly old stock?

Great filter in preventing the lingering of odors!!
My go-to filter during the winter time!! I have a cat that roams the house and cooking odors and others tend to linger now more after the "recovery ventilator" kicked-the-bucket (it brought outside air to the house). So, I switched to this type of filter and now the house does smell much, much better. In the spring, summer and fall, I use the 4" filters, for longer change time interval and a little better filtration rate, due to my allergies (I hope they make this activated charcoal filter in 4" sizes soon) Very happy with this filter!!

Traps majority of dust!!!
I noticed a lot more dust particles get caught by this filter than with the one we had before. Dust has diminished in the apartment as well.
