Perfect Replacement For the 883 Door Closer

The media could not be loaded. This is an identical replacement for the original that I have in a condo building that I manage. The screw holes are the same, the setting screws are the same, and so on. The examples in the paperwork all show the pneumatic part mounted on the door, and the actuator arm attached to the door frame, but in our case the mount is upside down with the pneumatic section on the door frame and the arm attached to the door itself. It doesn't appear to make any difference, since our old unit had been in service for fifteen years when I replaced it. It was quite easy, especially since I just followed the old unit's layout. Once the assembly was complete, I adjusted the set screws for swing and closure. Getting the adjustment just right took a few door openings and closing, but it finished with flying colors. You can now sling the door open and let it fly, and it calmly slows down and closes itself perfectly. Quite an improvement, because our old one had lost its seals and was slamming the door. I love this thing. Very inexpensive, very easy to assemble, and very easy to adjust. Thumbs up!
