Durable!
I installed one back in 2014 and got over 7 tough years of use out of it. Was still working well but thought I should replace while replacing the other belt. Replaced it a year ago with a cheaper brand. The knock off belt failed in a year. Replaced the cheapo with a Murry belt. I ought to get 7+ years out of the new belt!

the biggest problem that i have trying to buy a drive belt for my snow blower is that they never say what size its supposed to be, you have to assume that the part number will fit your machine. i have not installed the belt yet to see if it fits and now that winter in california is over i may not get around to installing it until the end of the year. the belt its self is fine

This might be the right belt for you, but not for me. 38" x 1/2" x 3/8"
The 585416MA belt was recommended as the proper Auger belt for my Murray manufactured Noma model E2914000. I selected this belt due to it being listed as a Murray direct part, and due to the description reading 35" x 1/2" x 1/4", which seemed like a good fit to the belt I had removed. Upon receiving the belt, I could tell it was much too large, but I figured I'd explore whether it could be made to fit if the tensioner was adjusted properly. It was not even close to being the correct belt for my snow blower. The snow blower was owned by my father, who had used a different manufacturer's belt, which was actually 34" in circumference. I was trying to locate the correct original, official or manufacturer part, but you can't always believe what you read in a part compatibility chart or even the description of this item. Thankfully Amazon is accepting this part for return. I am posting this review so everybody knows what they will receive. The belt itself is stamped with the code 724801 and some manufacturing info like date of production 01032019 and country of origin Mexico. The cardboard sleeve does indeed say 585416MA. The best advice I've read is to use a tape measure on your existing belt, and compare this with the belt you are purchasing. The best match for me lies in a brick and mortar store around the corner, unless I can find a product here that actually lists accurate dimensions. Most are lacking in details. Photos show how much slack existed when installation was attempted or side by side with the belt that was previously in use.

Finally a belt that actually worked!
My Briggs and stratton motor atop my Craftsman (Model 536.887990) snow thrower, utilizes this and only this belt. Other (replacement) belts soon burned up and shredded as they were (just) too tight and did not have the smooth exterior required for smooth operation of the auger drive on my machine. My Machine operates correctly and smoothly only with this belt due to exacting standards of my snow thrower. You get what you pay for. FYI for owners of this machine (The manual is INCORRECT) regarding belt removal/replacement. To replace either drive belt, there are 2-4 screws located just below the screws that hold the pulley cover in place. After removing the pulley cover (2 screws), Remove those 2-4 screws mentioned and the machine separates in half for easy access to the belts. The only thing at this point is making sure the pin holding the belt to the auger pulley moves and stays out of the way when separating and putting it back together. The pin is located at the bottom end of the adjustment for the auger drive belt, so just push on that adjustment lever and the pin will move away from the pulley. It "now" takes literally minutes to replace belts as needed. The manual is Waaaay off and appears to describes how to replace belts on their newer machines. ????? If not for someone posting the video showing how to do it on the internet I never would have known.

Original Murray Auger Drive Belt & Not a Knock-Off General Part
When you are in a bind a need a oddball product fast when all the local stores do not carry it, look no further then Amazon to come through in the clutch! During the rough Northeast Winter in 2013, I noticed after the first 2 storms that my snow blower was not throwing snow properly and I figured it was just because it was less then 6 inches. However, it was my auger drive belt that broke and with an looming Blizzard, I needed to get a belt fast. This belt is not a general belt that fits many different types of snow blowers. Rather, this is just as listed, an original Murray Auger Drive Belt. It fit my snow blower perfectly and is constructed just as an original part should be. My original belt lasted 10 years and I expect this belt from Amazon to do the same.

The belt arrived fast and Im happy with the price. I was surprised to see that it was not a Murray product but made by Briggs & Stratton.

Did what it was intended to do
Did what it was intended to do. I have a monster of a 9 horse power snow thrower that tears through pins and belts on my rough driveway. I needed the extra belt because I cannot remove the drive disk regardless of how many holes I drilled to get a the broken bolt. The disk wobbles and that causes the belt to flip from drive wheel to the auger wheel. After a while that stretches the belt until it comes off when brake engages. It takes less than five minutes to swap out now, with all the experience and running with no covers just waiting for it to happen. I could switch out a belt every day and it would still be cheaper and better than the machines being sold today.
