Works OK

Bought this grinder for a dedicated knife sharpening station, so just needed something to spin the sharpening wheels and it works fine for that purpose. I have a 35-year-old 1/3hp Craftsman grinder and was foolishly expecting this to be similar, but it was not. It is nowhere near 1/3hp, maybe 1/6, and although the base and motor housing are heavy metal, the wheel covers and such are very cheaply made, but functional. In my application all the cheap stuff got ripped off, leaving me with a perfectly adequate tool to spin my sharpening wheels, if slightly underpowered. I did not pay full-price - got a used unit, so am happy with the price paid.

Wouldn't have guessed this as a budget model. It's a beast.

I'm no connoisseur of bench grinders, but this thing was inexpensive, seemingly pretty well built (it's heavy and sturdy), and absolutely does the job. So far it has made quick work of whatever i've thrown at it. The shields are a nice touch at this price range as well. Mine was an open box special, but no complaints.

a worth while tool for any home shop

in the time i bought my home and began to remodel it i found that many of my tools was getting dull, trying to sharpen case harden metals with a file wasn't getting the job done so i started looking for a bench grinder and settled on the shop fox m1051-6, to my amazement it handled every sharping job i had to do, so a friend came over just the other day seem mine and ran out and bought one for his home shop, never again will i be caught with out a bench grinder, thank you amazon for the price, that made the difference also......a.l. harris................raleigh, n.c.

nifty little grider

I like this grinder but its the only one ive owned. I sharpen knifes and axes on it and it has a smooth and rough side. remember to use water. i wish they was more space/room though to sharpen or grind at different angles.

Just go Delta...

I've owned various shop tools. I had never tried a shop fox product. I bought this bench grinder and then realized why I will likely never buy their tools again. Cheap welds. Out of balance. Base cracked through in two places. Paint flaking off. Need I say more? It's like this. If you've ever squeezed the clutch on a Harley Davidson motorcycle and then done the same on a Yamaha, you can tell immediately which is a better product (for those still guessing, the answer is the Harley Davidson). My advise... buy the Delta (which I did). You'll see the difference.

Nice and quiet!!

This grinder will last me a lifetime. I am using it at home and it has plenty of power for what I use it for. Quiet, and no vibrations. I would recommend this grinder.
