A slim, light weight, excellent cleaning electric toothbrush.

I have been using the Sonicare toothbrush for some time now, and I am genuinely impressed with it. The first thing that caught my attention was its sleek and stylish design. Good brush, but long term quality issue

Bought 2nd one as a replacement, Philip's customer service is usually great. Battery lasts great, even after 3+ years of use. Both toothbrushes had the same issue, the vibrating tip comes loose after a year or two. You'll notice the tip is wobbly and the brush sounds louder. Reason for that is that the tip is fastened with a simple metal screw which when vibrating over time tends to get loose or in my case entirely undone. There's a video on how to fix it relatively easily, but I wish it would not come loose at all.

Have used an older model for years. The size of the unit and the brush head are a big improvement. They extra massage feature and timer was a big upgrade.

A Nice Sonicare to Own

I have used a Sonicare toothbrush for quite a few years. But what I learned from my dentist is that after time, the motors can slow down and not clean as well. I didn't want to put several hundred into upgrading to the 900 series, so decided to upgrade just a tad to the 500 series. What I discovered is that they are much thinner than the former Sonicares! They fit my hand better and are easier to pack when traveling. This particular one has 3 modes, one being for whitening your teeth. Another is for gum care, and the main one is for everyday use. The charger is also much smaller, and the sound it makes seems to be quieter than my old one. It is white with a spot of mint green, of which I like the looks. So many are black — no thanks! Another was champagne, which was lovely, but the price wasn't.

Does the job

This Philips Sonic care toothbrush is a replacement for my previous one that lasted 6 years. I do prefer the corded unit to plug into electrical outlet. In my experience USB charged small items have not been as long-lived. I am fine with the look and the function buttons on the toothbrush, but it is noisier than I prefer. In addition, the unit itself is really large; I have average sized hands, but this just feels larger than necessary. It works and I am satisfied.

Brand That Stands Behind Products

I was really upset with my toothbrush, stopped working properly after only nine months of use. I called Phillips and found that, even though I bought it from Amazon, they were willing to warrantee my product. They are now sending me a replacement! Thank you so much!

Does what it's supposed to do

This is my third sonicare over many years. We moved the first one into our travel trailer. The second one started misbehaving and the push button deteriorated from years of use. This one is all shiny and new and works well. I'm glad they even included a travel case. My only complaint is they should include several brushes for the price. And why are the brushes so ridiculously expensive? It's stupid. I just buy knock-off brushes.

US plug

Comes with US plug and a 3 pin adapter - it is against building regs to have 3 pin socket in the bathroom and cabinets only come with 2 pin sockets- Why are these half wits allowed to sell on amazon

Not UK compatible

Still no response from seller re returning these items, they are not UK compatible unless you buy a plug for UK sockets. Useless

Difícil tener garantía.

Después de 8 meses de uso, se vuelve cada vez más difícil operar el dispositivo. El botón para activar se vuelve cada vez más difícil de activar y bajar y bajar para pesar. El producto no está disponible en Philips MX y Philips EE. UU. No atiende a México. Comprado en Amazon MX pero enviado desde Amazon EE. UU. No debe comprarse en Amazon MX si lo entrega Amazon USA para tener una buena garantía. Producto no recomendado, porque después de 8 meses el botón de inicio es muy difícil de operar. El producto se envió desde los Estados Unidos, pero Philips USA no brinda servicio de garantía en México. El producto no está en la lista de productos que ofrece Philips México. Lo que significa que no hay garantía sobre este producto.

Doesn't last

I don't typically leave reviews but thought I should comment on the Philips Sonicare Protective Clean 5100 Electric Toothbrush for the benefit of those who might be considering purchasing this. I got this in April 2021 and it worked fine for 9 months; Then in January this year, it started making really loud, jarring noises when brushing, probably due to the shaft having come loose; the shaft was so loose it made it impossible to use the toothbrush as it kept moving around. In contrast, I've owned a few Oral B electric toothbrushes (even the basic models) and they've all lasted for years before the battery dies. So not sure if this is a defective batch or whatever, but there's definitely a quality control issue here and I definitely wouldn't recommend this model.
