Awesome for repairing accident damagd!

Last year after a long weekend at the lake in haste to beat a storm. We jumped in the truck after securing my boat. I for got to raise the outboard. I didn't realize it until after 5 miles of driving. The Skeg was destroyer. I found this product t asked me thousands of dollars. In 20 minutes. Follow the instructions step by step to achieve desired results.

Saved my lower unit due to cracked skeg

Skeg on Lower unit had cracked due to hitting a rock. Installed this and it not only looks great it works well. Was easy to locate and install onto the lower unit. Stainless steel fasteners look very nice

Awesome product

I installed it in the beginning of the season with ease. Probably half hour install. Much thicker and heavier than I imagined. It looks fantastic and add lots of character to my boat when on the trailer. It also helps steering as my other skeg broke off from previous owner. No welding was going to be considered for this aluminum area by me so this is really only option. And I’d recommend it for sure

Easy to install, quick fix for a broken skeg.

I bought a SeaRay 180 BR with a 3.0 liter Mercruiser last fall from a dealer that had it on consignment. I saw that it had a big chunk broken out of the rear of the skeg so I almost passed on it. The sales guy (a friend of mine) said just install one of these and it will be good as new. It was super easy to install. Just file off any burrs or divots, tap it in place with a rubber hammer and drill the mounting holes. One little trick I have learned over the years is to use a center punch on the aluminum first to center the drill in the holes on the fitting and keep if from "walking". Then start drilling with a smaller drill bit than the final size. Drill about half way through with the small drill then go to the other side and drill the rest of the way through. The first pilot hole you drilled from the first side will help direct the drill back to the center. When you use the recommended drill size to drill the final hole it will hit the other side dead on.

Solid piece to help repair my Skeg after we had found some “hard water” during the last trip out. Fitment was a little off but made a few small modifications and seemed to work well. I’ve used a lot of panther products in the past and they’ve never disappointed

Fit on a Mercury Classic 60

So although not designed for my 87 Mercury Classic 50, (45 hp 2 stroke, 4 cyl 45 hp) I was able to grind my old front edge slightly and get a great fit. Based on my measurements and the manufacturers feedback, this is the one I chose. The 650 did not fit. This did. Great quality and value. Easy to install 30 minutes.
