I can sharpen my chainsaw chains!
I ordered this on January 30th and received it today, February 1st. Really fast shipping, I think it came from PA which is pretty close to me. This grinder was very easy to assemble. The part that took the longest was finding screws to mount it to the work bench. I did not have any of the casting slag on mine that other reviewers had. Mine also came with two screws to mount the plastic guard, one was to short to use with both plastic parts but would work with just the main plastic part. The other screw was the right size for using to secure both plastic guard parts. Two alan wrenches are supplied, one for the guard screws, and one for the arbor screw. The only very minor thing I found is that the screw adjuster that is used to center the chain tooth stop unscrews a little from the vibration. I put a bit of teflon tape around it to resolve it. This is the third or forth chain sharpener that I have purchased over the years. They were all hand powered ones. I was going the cheap rout. And not one of them worked. This is the first electric sharpener for me. It was so simple and it works! I set the arm to 60, set the chain angle to 30, used the thinnest wheel. You can figure out the right size wheel to use by picking the thickest one that will not touch the tooth raker. Then adjust the tooth stop, and the depth of the cut. Take your time doing this adjustment, test/check it many times before turning the grinder on. I marked the first tooth with red magic marker, and started. Finished one side what seemed pretty fast. Then rotated the chain angle to 30 on the other side. I had to re-adjust the tooth stop, the distance changes when you start on the next side. I finished my gas powered saw chain, then sharpened my battery powered tiny chain using the same 60 30 angles. After finishing it, I popped a battery in it and took it outside to try cutting a 7" log. It cut through it effortlessly. The shavings were nice fluffy chips like it was when new, not the fine powdery saw dust that it was making before sharpening. I am so happy that I can get such a sharp blade! Another thing to mention, when I set up the grinder, I have it just barley touching the tooth. It makes a very few sparks. Point being, I barley took off any material so I think I will be able to get many sharpenings per chain. When I ordered this, I was computing how many new chains I could buy with the money for this machine. I wouldn't bother paying for a chain to be sharpened I would just use it up and buy a new one. I think this sharpener will pay for itself. I also get a great satisfaction being able to put a factory fresh edge on my chains. A dull chain still sort of feels sharpish when I run my fingers on it, but after using this grinder on it I realize that the chain really was dull. I have the pole trimmer chain to do, and an electric chain saw to do next. The electric one has been out of commission for years because I didn't want to buy a new chain for it. Now it will be in service again. Terrific!

Already paid for itself
We heat our house with an outdoor wood furnace so for me, winter means plenty of cutting splitting and stacking. At $25 per saw chain, the costs add up, and I can't see paying $8.00 and waiting a week to get chains sharpened properly. I've used Dremel type attachments in the past, and they always blue the teeth and what edge they do put on the chain never lasts long. I live near a sawmill and grab the slabs and mill rejects to heat with. Over the past 48 hours I cut and split about 8 full cords of mixed hardwood. I gathered all my chains and ran them through this grinder and the results are in - its a winner. When saw hits tree it looks like it's a blizzard of long shavings. The edge holds, and I even was able to bring new lift to previously rocked-out chains. Here's the thing... I don't like to buy imported stuff, but this was the only option in my price range, and I've found that the quality to price holds up. I'm glad I got it. So far I've sharpened 18 chains and they all look/work like factory. My main saw is a Stihl 026 with a 3/8 chain and my standby is a Husky 340 with .325. Does a beautiful job on both. It's quiet, easy to set up, and the degree markers are surprisingly accurate. I'm a hobby machinist so I'm always curious about these things. Yes - I put gauges on them to test. The work light is really nice, and the motor is exceptionally well-balanced. No vibration at all even clamped to a table saw table with c clamps. While really skeptical about buying a Chinese sharpener (yes, it's marked Made in China), so far I don't regret this decision in the slightest. Not to get political, but as a big made in US guy, I feel this needs to be known. The instructions are awful, but the chain table is really all I used as I read about how poor it was from the other reviews.

It could be a great chain sharpener
This is almost a clone of the excellent Tecomec sharpener I run at the shop where I'm a tech. The motor is smooth and quiet, the frame is rigid and it has the potential to be a great tool. Sadly they really blew it with a number of details that could have been so easy to avoid with routinely accurate machining on the arbor adapter and attention to key design elements on the chain vise tension knob. Screws penetrate the space under the vice mounting plate holding it up, I'm going to remove them and bond the scale to the front with adhesive. All the screws including the cam post were loose. It's a good one to buy if you're a machinist looking for a project otherwise you should probably go after the Oregon or Tecomec sharpeners.

Does what it is meant to do.
Well it is not made in USA, but does what it is meant to do. I read the reviews here at this sight before I purchased and saw a lot of people complaining of the instructions. Please bare in mind they are written in China by people who have never fell Redwoods or cut pine for firewood by the cord. One must have some knowledge of the principles of the unit and how it gets the job done. Knowledge of the saw chain and its manufactured pitch and top plate. So with that said I found the unit to work well and spin the disk at acceptable speed. But may I also add the disk that comes with it are very cheap and one should upgrade the quality to Arkansas stone. And important tip for most users is use the 3/16 disk for a 3/8 chain which is most common size used by saws for industrial work. Set the angle to 60 and pitch to 30 or 32 degrees.Ladies and gentlemen good luck with your Timber Tuff saw sharpener. If used properly it gets the job done leaving pleasing results.

Great tool with useless instructions
The sharpener is solidly constructed and works well, making quick work of sharpening my chains, doing a much better job than I had managed to do by hand, in spite of much effort on my part to learn this skill. So I am very pleased. I also appreciate the built-in work light, that I do not think the very similar Oregon equivalent sharpener has. (Cannot confirm this, but could find no mention of such a light in any of the Oregon literature.) I would have given 5 stars, except that the instructions are all but useless for assembly and, especially, operation. If a person is not mechanically inclined and confident, they might find this an impossible tool to assemble and operate. Packaging was also rather flimsy, with some pieces rattling around in the carton by the time it reached my address. Nothing was lost or broken, but easily could have been. Nonetheless, once set up, it works really well.

Does a great job
Excellent product, terrible instructions. Go online there are excellent videos for similar products. I work in the bush and always carry two chainsaws with several chains for each, the time saved sharpening and perfect angle attained with the sharpener are impressive
