hey for the price I could not be happier it truly welds very good I commercial fish so most of my welding is on rusty trailers and rigging on my boat the xtrempower welder is truly very powerful of the 250 amps most of the welds I do are at or below 125 and I highly recommend the welder to anyone who just needs basic ac welding I paid for the welder the day the truck brought it to my door with a repair on a co-fishermans truck he gave me 150 bucks to weld the frame together under his ford and weld the hitch back on that was a month ago he has used it every day since to pull a heavy 22ft. crab boat the hitch is holding strong he is very pleased a shop in town wanted 450 for the job I did in 2 hours so I will buy a second one to keep on the boat all the time for the price you can not go wrong thanks Paul Treloar Commercial Fishing Service Saint Helena Island S.C.

Great little box. It welds heavier metals with ease. The leads could be longer so you could move the box further away from the work to avoid splatter. Beginners pay close attention to the good advice in the comments they are very helpful especially the ones about what types of rods to use. Also there is a Welder Extension Cord, Heavy Duty 25 Feet 6-50 Nema R Plug Lighted Welding Cord with ETL Approved listed on Amazon which works great.

Make sure it's not damaged
I dislike the welder because it was damaged I use it for home repairs fencing it looks like it was dropped the bottom was crushed but it still works I love it

Came in dented damaged and rusted
My husband order this for himself as his current one is worn and he was extremely disappointed considering the whole metal framing came in opened straight from the box dented, damaged, and rusted! Poor quality check before sending out a product!

Use 6011 rods for welding with a AC welder!!!
This is a great inexpensive garage welder for the price , it took some looking into to get it up and going , be sure to get 6011 rods for this machine if your a weekend warrior like me I didn't know you can't weld with 7018 rods with an AC welder , after trying for a few days thinking it wasn't this hard welding 20 yrs ago back in shop class I did some research on it and figured it out ! So to save you from beating your head off the wall get 6011 rods with this and it works great !!!!

Wouldn't buy again
Its ehh. The stinger and ground clamp suck but most do at this price. The leads are almost so short they're almost unusable and are honestly scary thin for something advertised as being a 250 amp welder. I've probably put a grand total of 3 hours on this machine because it's a pain to use. If you're on 115/120v you better run it on a dedicated 50amp breaker. Otherwise even the 1/16th 6013 you'll be struggling to get through a single bead. Honestly save your money and get one of harbor freights welders. Or save up and get a forney.

Great power for the money.
This review is for XtremepowerUS 250 AC welder. It's great power for the money, and the duty cycle is high enough for hobby welding. The OCV is not as high as a lincoln buzz box, but that's no problem for me because I added an Arc Pig for HF. My only objection is adjusting the current takes a while turning the crank, but that's minor and the current stays where I set it.
